How far have you come since your 1st post?

well i 1st posted here Sept 29 2002, I did my 1st jump on August 10th 2002,
Since starting here I have 180 jumps, have started to learn freefly, but LOVE Rel Work.
I sold a MotoGuzzi California to fund a rig purchase (luckily I had 2 bikes), I traveled to Queensland to a REAL Dz and jumped with 2 of Australias best Relworkers (Cookie & Jeramy). I have had an absolute blast and spent over $16000.00 in the process (my wife pointed that out)

In the next 12 months I would like to have become a competant Relworker and Ok freeflier. I'd like to get my Packers rating and learn to fly camera.

5 years golas are to become a GOOD relworker andc Freeflier, get my Instrucxtor rating with AFF endorsement and Get to one of the BIG boogies, like The Hurc boogie & WFFC
I's also very much like to meet some Dotcommers.:)

OK, So when you DO come to the WFFC, (and you WILL!) be sure to look me up. I will be there, somewhere, anywhere, everywhere........I can hardly wait to meet you!

how far have you come as a skydiver since your 1st post on DZ.com? What are your skydiving goals for the next year/season? How about your skydiving goals for 5 years from now?

Well, my first post was April of this year, I had about 68 jumps and was starting out my first real season as a licensed skydiver. I now have 194 and can't wait to do my 200th nekked in Cali with my newly A licensed buddy Karri! Just ordered my new Infinity, and I'm hoping it will be waiting there for me when I get there.

I've been skydiving for 2 yrs now, my first year was a bit unsettling as the DZ I was at did not give me much confidence and the training was a lil erratic. This past summer was one of the best of my life! My new family at Burnaby, taught me a lot and gave me a lot of confidence as well as set me str8 on a few things. Head down baby!

Next season I would like to get my instructer A and coach 1, as well as my C and D licence(CSPA). I'm thinking I will write for my USPA B and maybe C while I'm in Cali. I'm hoping I may get to do a few skyboard training jumps as well. I think that I may fall in love skysurfing.

Over the next 5 years...I want to love my sport, the people in it and travel to Dz's all over the world(I'll be heading to Morrocco in Jan). I want to learn a little more everyday of the many ways I can fly and be safe while doing it. The sky set me free, and I will embrace it till the day I die.

Try to learn to sitfly

:)Here I am on 3975 dives, and there you are on 5.

And one of our goals are identical.

How cool is that?!

t

Not sure if it's cool or discouraging :P

Hey, maybe if I beat ya to it, I can teach ya...and then you can teach me the hundreds of things you've learned from almost 4,000 jumps, sound good?

I joined here and posted on the 20th of Oct. I had just completed level III or IV of AFF. Yesterday, I completed Level VII:D So I'd say I came a prety far way in a relitative short period of time :D

This is what makes skydiving so great. Last year I wanted to learn CRW so I traded sitfly coaching for CRW coaching--we both learned and more importantly, it was fun as hell. I only have 450 jumps but I love that no matter how long I'm in the sport there will always be new stuff to keep me humble.

Started jumping in April of 2001,(well, did a Tandem jump in september of 2000.)

Registered and starting posting here in June of 2001 -

Did the static-line thing, downsized immediately from the 288 foot Mantas to a 150 foot Spectre (1.25:1)and lived through it, (Still jumping the Spectre, as a matter of fact. No desire to downsize further at this time -)

I do nothing but RW - I'm not an RW snob, but my rig isn't 100% FF- Friendly, and I'm having so much fun on my belly. I have been on a few hybrids, though, and they absolutely rocked!

Have 230 some-odd jumps now, more than half in the last nine months. Best season has been the current one, where I started jumping in 4-way competition. I've learned so much! Got my D license last month, and will be taking the coach course in the spring. I plan on making at least 200 jumps next year, and spending a good hour in the tunnel in Orlando in March. Not sure if I'll compete again next year, but plan on going for my AFF rating by the end of 2004.

I've had one cutaway and two reserve rides, (had an AAD fire) and rode the plane down twice (Not by my own choice, though-) Oh, and one emergency exit - at 8,500'.

Best advice I could give a newbie - Set healthy goals for yourself, and get good help in achieving them.

Well AggieDave,

My first jump was October 5th of this year and my first post was October 7th of this year. (Man I really must have been addicted from the first jump - eeks). Since then I have logged 22 jumps and over 50 posts.

My goals for this year are to finish my A lisence (hopefully this weekend). And then this December go to the Collegiate Nationals and compete in Lake Wales Florida.

Should be fun even if I am going to suck.:P

Next Year I want to get into RW and Freefly. I hope to get better at judging when to flare my landings so I do not wack myself anymore.

Oh yeah want to get my own rig

Next five years? I would like to have over 1000 jumps by my 5th jump b-day.

By then maybe I will be ready for swooping. Man you swoopers make that look fun.

And maybe become a rigger. We shall see.

Oh yeah for this year I hope to actually sit-fly rather than sit-n-spin!:o

I did my first jump in May, 2002. I had, I believe, six jumps when I started posting here. I haven't jumped since May, and I have only 18 jumps now.

My short term goal, in the next year, is to get my license. I simply want to finish what I started, money permitting.

My long term goals are undefined. I don't plan on competing or being a top swooper or anything. Just jump when I can and enjoy it. I love it, but I cannot actually see myself with thousands of jumps or anything. Right now, I need to focus on my career and starting a family, as well as getting my finances secure - pay off consumer debt, build a house, etc.

I love the sport, and I started gettign addicted to it. Now, I view it like beer. I love beer, and I drink it without regret. But, I don't drink often and I always ensure that I don't have other responsibilities which require my greater attention.

My long term goals? I guess to stay alive....

Unbelievable. A life long dream, I love it more than anything I've ever experienced.

Incredible.

Next year/season: Coach rating. 4-stack award and downplane (still have time for the downplane this year, I guess). C License. Wingsuit flight. Freefly dock. Hybrid. I have lots of room to improve in every aspect of my skydiving and so much new stuff to do, so it's hard to pick just a few things to concentrate on.

It looks like another season is in the bag. I think I did pretty well. Almost 200 jumps. I'll be a coach as soon as the weather cooperates long enough to do the eval jumps, I've got my C license, I made 20 wingsuit flights and bought a GTi, and I did a hybrid. I didn't manage to do much CRW, unfortunately, and it wasn't a big freefly year for me either.

Beyond last year's list, I started flying camera, I swooped my Triathlon, I did another season of 4way (3rd in our region... out of three eligible teams, but that's just between you and me), I did ground crew for a demo, I did a reverse cross-country, I tried out some smaller parachutes, and so much more.

For next year: CRW, and I mean it this time, even if I have to travel. Get serious about doing video. More swoops. Maybe a demo.

Good thread to bring back.

My goals for this year were to

1. Get AFF-I
2. Get SL/IAD-I
3. Compete in a local swoop meet.

Well, number 1 has been put on hold, too many things going on for me to focus on it. Number 2 would have been pointless to get at this point so I saved my money and number 3 was accomplished, sort of. The swoop comp didn't complete because someone (not me) scared the piss out of everyone there, so the comp was called...that and the winds were starting to get bad, but I was there and I competed.

I have, however, become a fairly good TI and have a bit over 500 tandem jumps now, but there's still a LOT to learn.

This coming year:

This coming year is a big year for me in my "real life" so my skydiving goals are going to be simple.

1. compete in another swoop comp
2. progress to the point of being able to downsize again

Very simple goals, but this is going to be a "simple" skydiving year for me, too many other things coming up (finding a "real" job, getting married, etc).

So what about everyone else? Did you accomplish your goals and what are your goals for next year?

Awesome thread to bring back. Nice one :)
In my last post in this thread i mentioned that my major goal was to get over to the US and jump like crazy. Well, i did it.

I left home with 100 jumps and came back with 265, i flew a wing suit a good few times, logged a few hours in the tunnel, had my first taste of BASE and made some amazing friends. An awesome experience all round.

Then i broke myself when i got home and i've been out for the last two months so my major goals for this year will be to:

1) Get current again in January
2) Log at least 200 jumps this year
3) Get back in the suit
4) Progress to where i'm ready to downsize
5) Learn to fly a camera

That's not too much to ask is it? ;)

Since I have only 27 jumps at the moment I have everything ahead of me.

In the next 6 months I would like to:
1. learn to fly stable (do 50-100 jumps)
2. learn to land safe (do 10-20 crew jumps)
3. learn to fly with others (get my b license)
4. attend heaps of DZs and learn my butt off
5. buy my own gear

In the next few years I would like:
1. 300+ jumps by herc boogie
2. learn to do RW
3. learn to do CREW
4. Get a packers ticket
5. Get signed off on big ways, night jumps, target assistant, beach jumps, demos etc..

Pretty much anything i can learn or do I want to have a go at it. But I am in no rush, but wish it would hurry the hell up. Damn those week days.
