riggerrob 643 #26 December 3, 2005 The part about the pilot wearing the parachute, is that a part of the regs? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Pilot emergency parachutes (PEPs) are mentioned in some of the STCs for installing jump doors on Cessnas, but not all the STCs. On some of the larger twins (i.e. Beech 18) a parachute would be worse than useless because the pilot is too far from the door to bail out. Any time they experiment with airplanes (i.e. being the first to jump that type of airplane) prudent pilots wear parachutes.
FlyingRedneck 0 #27 December 3, 2005 I believe (but do not know for sure) that there is a rule that states if the door is open, each person must have a parachute the do not intend to use. ie, our reserve and a pilots emergency rig. this might only apply to smaller planes like the 182 and such. i dunno. it was just a rule i was told by an instructor. It comes from the paperwork required for modifying the door to open in flight. It's not really an FAR but there is an FAR that says you have to comply with all limitations in an STC or 337. Joellercoaster 6 #29 December 6, 2005 I'm not jumping there yet, so I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure the Australian Civil Aviation Authority requires jump pilots (and everyone else on the plane) to wear a rig.-- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, .
