smiles 0 #1 November 23, 2005 extremely excited and proud!! http://www.vancouver-skydiving.bc.ca/aircraft.html Our Pilatus was proudly purchased from the Australian Airforce in 1994. Pilatus PC-6T C-GROO is equipped with a Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PT6A-20 turbo-prop engine capable of developing 550 horsepower…… Last weekend C-GROO was being equipped with new engine PT6A-34 by Mike Fitzgerald / Icarius AeroTechnics(owner of F-GODZ being flown in GAP-Tallard) http://www.icarius-aerotechnics.com/pages/main.php Check out the gallery!! Mike is scheduled to leave this Sunday after taking a test flight in C-GROO. I am such a geek for not asking all the pertinent questions about the new engine like: horsepower, speeds/vertical rates/min up or down/range or difference in flight characteristics. All I know as a skydiver you couldn't ask for a better jumpship, faster ride to altitude, better fuel consumption, more power...more sex appeal.. I think C-GROO is the only Porter jumpship flown in Canada?? Anyone here get to experience ride up in A34?? Unreal scenery with the low lying fog all the way to Bellingham!! Weather permitting we fly and this weekend Sat. is looking good....(also chance Porter will be flying) http://www.vancouver-skydiving.bc.ca/index.html for contact info. (Or at least take his or her copy of Flash away.) QuotePilatus PC-6T C-GROO It is dark. You are likely to be eaten by a GROO. :) QuoteI am such a geek for not asking all the pertinent questions about the new engine like: horsepower, speeds/vertical rates/min up or down/range or difference in flight characteristics. Pratt Whitney Canada doesn't even give the horsepower spec on their Web site. Looking around the Web, the PT6A-34 in other aircraft seems to be rated 700-750 horsepower. That sounds like a reasonable upgrade from 550 horsepower. QuoteAnyone here get to experience ride up in A34?? No, but it's probably faster than in 182B. :) Eule.PLF does not stand for Please Land on Face.

smiles 0 #8 November 23, 2005 thanx for the link, great site! http://www.pc-6.com/history/340.htm Mike Fitzgerald's (Icarius) F-Godz also read F-GODZ "Godzilla" is the world's most powerful Turbine Porter at: http://www.bkpc.co.uk/news.htm and: Quote"I just spent the weekend up at BKPC and had a really great time. Phil the CCI and Jeff the dz manager were friendly and helpful and looked after us at manifest. All the regulars were friendly and the whole place just had a nice vibe to it. On top of that they have possibly the best jumpship in the country, a bad-ass porter that was taking us up to 14k in about 10 minutes. Even the pilot was happy and smiling and his spotting was great. I really don't have anything bad to say about the place, I just wish I lived a bit closer. They could do with a bar but even that's not much of a problem - half way through packing from my last jump I had a cold beer put in my hand! I would be very happy to call BKPC my home dz" Gus Brown, DZ review on Dropzone.com SMileseustress. : a positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being. sundevil777 102 #13 November 23, 2005 The huge step on the camo plane is, in my opinion, a must for a Porter to be good for RW exits. With that step, it is very easy to launch 8 way, much easier than an Otter. It really should be called a porch instead of a step, it is so big. I also like the diver slot where you climb out forward of the strut, standing on the wheel.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. C-GROO's (porch/step) is a beauty....8 & 10-ways are a dream-one out on wheel- 5 on the porch a breeze - (can even hang on the porch) 2 inside front are really 3/4's outside on porch.... Ride up is real comfy in Porter as our bench is designed so we straddle it---as Otter you are tilted sideways on bench. The width of the door is perfect on Porter compared to Otter. We have boogies every season with Ponce & bring up the Otter from Kapowsin, or Otter from Monteray Bay- but cannot beat the Porter for launching. smiles 0 #25 November 29, 2005 ahh, I was fortunate to be on the first load flying at the d.z. Saturday-----what a difference in climb!! 12,500 in just under 9 min.....and or launch was so incredible!! After 4-5 loads porter was flown back to have a new lighter step designed I believe they are using a dinged strut from a cessna. After huge sushi dinner we were all drinking champagne to the wee hrs. Turn around was only 4 days thanks to Mike Fitzgerald and our pilot Grant Toews who also does all maintanance on the aircraft--sign off was done by Transport Canada on the 4th day also. Mike headed back to France on Sun. He signed my logbook with his Icarius Aerotechnics decal, He did actually bring a week of sunshine with him as after he took off, it started snowing............... Deb & Gerald Harper (dz operators/owners) will be updating with Markus Herzig and sending new pics of our super porter A-34 (chances it will be also getting a paint job!) yee ha!
