Recommended Posts

Soon be graduating AFF this weekend, ifweather holds so would be the proudest skydiving moment to date for me.

Just wondered what your proudest moment is (couldbe many if you are off student status) but would be nice what your proudest skydiving moment has been?

thanks,

Mike

Just wondered what your proudest moment is

October 2002, Perris, Ca, USA. 131 all female formation, held for 10 seconds.

The skydive was awesome but what I'm most proud of is the fact that I went from being an uncurrent average recreational skydiver to a world record holder in 10 months.:)

My thousandth jump was pretty cool. I felt super special.

But I think that my proudest moment was after my first AFF jump, doing everything perfectly, right after the parachute opened. That moment right there where I started flying my parachute for the first time. Awesome. I still tell nervous students about how proud they will be of themselves at that moment when they realize that they did it!B|

when i did a perfect exit from a cessna caravan on jump 13.... didn't tumble... arched from the hips and seemed to just jump from the plane into the perfect position and seemed to have been stable in under a second... looked at my instructor who was smiling and giving me the thumbs up...

So far was probably my level 8 hop n pop. All by myself, stable and pulled in 4 secs. Gave me loads of confidence and felt briliant! B| Was good because broke down so many barriers... sat next to door all the way up was scared til then, poked my head out and was looking for the spot with the JM which was cool. Overcame the low altitude fear too and also the fact that I was completely on my own. And the landing was also superb. Well.... I stood up nicely anyway  Im hoping theres gonna be many more like that too!

Coming back to jump, finish my student progression, and get my license after everyone at the DZ figured I would never be back.

Having enough balls/courage/strength to be able to jump after a violent spinning mal on AFF 3...getting back into the plane, and then into the air, was one of the hardest things I've ever done, skydiving or not. And then, to land it standing up...well, that's the icing on the proverbial cake.

I can't narrow it down to one, but:

Jump 26, turned a 14-point 4-way (I had a good crowd with me;))

Jump 700, turned a 15-point 4-way with my little sister, who had less than 50 jumps (it was even cooler to be part of the good crowd for someone else).

NSL playoffs this year... my team had a very good meet.

At Rantoul this year I was diving last on a big-way, and the guy in front of me was a member of Airspeed. I jokingly said normally I would challenge the guy in front of me to a race, but that I'd probably lose this one. He smiled and said "well, you can always try." I gave it everything I had, and we prettymuch got there at the same time... I'm well aware that he wasn't pushing as hard as I was, but it was still awesome:P

2. Organizing a Georgia State Record POPS jump.

3. Being invited by Derek Thomas to go on his 30th anniversary jump (and not screwing up).

4. Being invited by vdschoor and GFD to do a hybrid jump with them.

Watching my man become a multi-rated instructor. I've never been more proud (or in awe) of someone in my life! :)
There are many future students ahead who will be so fortunate to have him as an instructor.

Congratulations baby!!!! B| YOU F*CKING ROCK!!!!

Congrats in advance to you, Mike. B| It just keeps getting better!

Its a toss between :getting my AFF rating.. really struggled with the pressure on the course. Last jump of the course just said "fuck it im gonna enjoy this one " to myself going out the door. The evaluator beasted me , but i was all over him and he actually pulled for himself. Perfect score!
:P

Or having struggled on progression , getting stable for the first time and staying that way all the way down ( screaming my lungs out ) whilst watching the Irish Parachute Club below me get ever closer..

:D

I was 16th in the worlds first 16 man diamond (I know you would say 16 way today, but that's what they called them then [1974]).

Like Lisa said above, in one jump, I went from just another local jumper to a world record holder and invited on pretty much everything from then on :)

Right after my AFF level 3&4 my instructors saw me fit to do my first 2 solos. I did one from 5,000 and one from 8,000. On my 8,000 foot jump, I left the plane arched super hard, on heading and I looked up at the plane and saw my DZO turning the plane almost 90 degrees to look out the door and wave at me. We were both laughing and I gave him a little salute and enjoyed my FIRST 8,000 foot solo jump during a beautiful sunset.
