kelel01 1 #51 November 9, 2005 We all see yours, and Andyman's, and AnvilBrother's points. But if any of you think we shouldn't have gotten involved, then . . . that's sad. I feel a responsibility to help people not get fucked over.
Anvilbrother 0 #52 November 9, 2005 Well from the start of the questions he might have learned that it was not "in date" I.E. Question from buyer one asking a question leads him to post a reply that he was never told anything about an expiration date He then starts wondering about why that person asks, then researches and finds out that there is an expiration date. He know knows that there is a date. Next buyer asks about the date, and says that it is out of date, but he might not know if someone can use it in another country, so he now gives a reply that "you might be able to use it in another country" There is a chain of events. I am not saying that the person is the sharpest tool in the shed, but some things dont always come off as what you might think. If he is doing it on purpose, then he is a asshat i give you that. headoverheels 333 #54 November 9, 2005 If the expiration were news to him, he should have answered the question on the ad, so any bidders would know, not by private e-mail.
Anvilbrother 0 #55 November 9, 2005 Once again that requires the knowledge of clicking the right button in order to make it show on the ad, and not just to the question asker. kelpdiver 2 #56 November 9, 2005 come on, anvil, stop kidding yourself. The guy knew exactly what he was doing. That's why he posted a technically accurate listing. DOM is listed. Says it cycles fine. Lists the battery change. He knows that anyone familiar with the Cypres will move on. He was hoping to catch a fool. He probably didn't expect us to actively meddle. kelel01 1 #58 November 9, 2005 You also defend Skyride. Must say this makes it THAT MUCH EASIER never to buy gear from you or Square One (if you still work there).
Anvilbrother 0 #59 November 9, 2005 I am not kidding myself. I would have researched a product I was buying before I bid on it. Buyer beware....I also would have not knocked all over that dudes add to ebay unless I had proof beyond doubt about what he was doing. With all he posted there is nothing that ebay can catch him on. You should know what you are buying before you buy it. I would not buy some gyro sync. off a 1997 scud missle cuz I have no clue what the hell that is..... Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. mandarinquail 0 #60 November 9, 2005 Hey everyone.....I've read through this thread and though I'd (as one of the accidental bidders) put my 2 cents in. I ran home between classes this afternoon and found an email waiting for me from someone who said that they were looking to sell a rig. It sounded like a good deal, and I've really been looking for my first rig, so I wrote them back asking for more details about it and about shipping to my rigger for inspection. It was the first one I've inquired about that didn't come with a cypres, so I thought I'd check out Ebay to see if there was anything available. You can probably guess what I found. Since it only had 2hrs left and I had to run to class I threw my bid in without expecting it to be highest and certainly without thinking about the expiration of the Cypress. It was a nasty combination of me being in a hurry and not taking the time to think about the obvious (lesson learned). I agree that he is legally free and clear and I easily could have been suckered into buying it, but morally I agree that this guy was an asshat and I'm really greatful to Kelly and Robert and half a dozen other people who quickly pointed out the mistake. Here's a big THANK YOU to all of you who felt like "meddling" in the situation.....you all are my new best friends.
Anvilbrother 0 #61 November 9, 2005 So you agree that with everything he included in the add you could have researched and found out that the product you were about to buy was not what you wanted or needed right? kelel01 1 #64 November 9, 2005 I would call that a personal attack. And I also believe in speaking with my wallet. So if the fact that I don't want to support you and your "values" is pathetic, then well . . . I guess that's the way it is.
mandarinquail 0 #65 November 9, 2005 Yeah....when I got home after class I had an email offering me the option to "Buy it Now" since the winning bidder had declined. It took only that to figure out that something was fishy, and I don't think it would have taken me too long to realize that it was expired once I looked at it again. Of course that was unnecessary since I had 7 or 8 emails saying just that.
diablopilot 2 #66 November 10, 2005 I don't care what you call it. You've shown yourself to be immature, and without simple reasoning skills. Why don't you go save someone else from themselves and blame the world for what it's done to you.....
 thepollster 0 #71 November 10, 2005 Quote Ebay would be out of business if a Fraud claim went through on this guy. He states "Looks and Cycles like new". I just sold a truck that looked good and started but it was still sold "as is" and if it doesn't pass smog and the guy calls me back and bitches at me for selling him a truck that doesn't pass smog I'm going to tell him that I sold it "as is". If he tells me he's taking me to court, I'll tell him to bring it on. [Off topic] Technically, in CA you would lose that court case. See, CA law has this little clause where the seller is responsible for smogging the car. IRL, for private transactions, it is often ignored, but it wouldn't stand in court.
