nitrox100 0 #1 October 17, 2005 What is the most unsafe thing you have heard of someone doing under canopy? I just learned this weekend that there is some fat guy in Chicago area who jacked off while on a cross country. Not only was that unsafe to him and the other jumpers in the air but imagine the threat to people on the ground. That must violate an FAR or BSR. I heard it is now legendary and even has gotten its own term. It is now called "pulling a Drew." Can anyone top that?

davidlayne 5 #4 October 17, 2005 We used to drop artillary simulators from under canopy.I don't care how many skydives you've got, until you stepped into complete darkness at 800' wearing 95 lbs of equipment and 42 lbs of parachute, son you are still a leg! I know some fat guys in the Chicago area that I just got an image of them doing that May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. skyejumper 0 #10 October 19, 2005 If someone has a moderately wing loaded canopy (nothing too crazy), how bad is it to intentionally induce line twists under canopy? I hate to sound naive, but I have a friend who does this and I sorta worry about it. He says he likes to see behind him. He's got over 1000 jumps, so I assume he knows what he's doing, but it's not something I'd ever consider trying myself.
Sneakerz 0 #11 October 21, 2005 It cant be that big of a deal, I have seen plenty of pictures, alot of them are CRW pics where someone will have a twist or two to reverse their direction.--------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"

jjiimmyyt 0 #14 October 21, 2005 I'm going to do this for my 100th, Grab the risers, do a 180 and knock one off. I reckon I need one hand for the 180 and one for well, you know. Especially as usually the holding area is over an ex of mine Oh yeah, and open high. "This isn't an iron lung, people. Eule 0 #15 October 21, 2005 QuoteI reckon I need one hand for the 180 and one for well, you know. Somebody on the ground is going to think "weirdest.birdshit.ever." after that. I read an account that a guy wrote about peeing from a hot-air balloon. Not sure of the altitude, but he was out over farmland. He said the stream broke into little droplets that sort of followed each other down in a meandering path as they were blown by the wind. It was relatively early in the morning and he said the sunlight catching the drops was pretty. EulePLF does not stand for Please Land on Face.

TomAiello 26 #17 October 22, 2005 QuoteIf someone has a moderately wing loaded canopy (nothing too crazy), how bad is it to intentionally induce line twists under canopy? See video here. This jumper induced line twists while playing with a perfectly good canopy. There were complicating factors which he did not anticipate, but still, I'd try to avoid that kind of thing.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

MB38 0 #23 November 3, 2005 One should note that the jumper in that video was wearing a wingsuit. It seems to me that trying any aggressive turns under canopy while wearing a wingsuit is like trying to fly two wings. Doesn't mean it's fine to do it without a wingsuit.I really don't know what I'm talking about.
