GrendelKhan 0 #4 October 17, 2005 Well, I made my third jump, second working tandem, on Sunday!!!! AFF, here I come!!!!!!! I can't wait, now all the fun stuff starts. Within five days I have 3 jumps, and each one was better than the one before it. i just hope I don't get too jaded and bored to enjoy every single jump the way I enjoyed these last few. I'm absolutely and totally hooked!!! Sorry, for wasting your time if you read this, but I'm busting at the seems and everybody I know is tired of hearing about it!!!! apley 0 #6 October 18, 2005 welcome to the amazing world of skydiving! i have almost 1100 jumps and each one fulfills me as much as the last (& first!) i was a terrible AFF student, taking 16 jumps to complete all 7 levels. i never lost hope that i could relax and make this happen... i just couldn't give up. i could see the incredible thrill on the faces of those leaving the plane before me, and knew i could get there, too. as for your "normal" friends... be easy on them, buddy. they cannot possibly relate to what you are experiencing. soon, they will join the realm of "acquaintances", and your new family will fill the hole. to them, you are on a death wish, and they can't understand your need to risk your life for such a thing. we now know what birds feel. we can fly! good luck on your AFF. leave your ego on the ground and you will get through it quickly and easily. you have only just begun to realize what your body and brain can do. read as much as you can, listen to the old salts, and make friends. these 3 things will keep you alive, and enjoying the sport for years to come. the angry hobbit

GrendelKhan 0 #9 October 24, 2005 I made my first AFF jump on Saturday...WHAT A RUSH!!! i was more nervous/amped up for this than any of my other jumps. I felt like I was going to puke all the way up to altitude. Once I got outside the airplane, I felt much more comfortable and as soon as I hit the ground I was (almost) ready to get back in the air. I guess it will take awhile to get totally comfortable with both myself and my gear, but I know once I get edumacated I will be in a whole new world. I think the T-shirt one of the instructors wore pretty much sums it up..."Most sports only require one ball to play, for skydiving you need both."
