wildchild 0 #1 October 23, 2005 Yesterday I dispatched a student doing the static line progression for his 3 second freefall jump. He had a malfunction, did his reserve drills in very good time, and walked back into the packing area with his main ripcord, cutaway handle and reserve ripcord in hand!! (Added bonus his main and freebag both landed on the dz but I think that was more luck than skill with the spot). And the best part is he was smiling too. So share: how has a student impressed you lately?____________________________ "If there is doubt, there is no doubt." - Tonto
AMax 0 #2 October 23, 2005 A friend on mine had a cutaway on his AFF level 7 (I did my AFF level 1 on the same day) He walked back to the hangar smiling big and said: WOW! that was a confidence builder.
dragon2 2 #3 October 23, 2005 One time my 2way landed way way out. My friend took a loong time figuring out the wind and which field to land in and stuff, I was hanging out on a bigger chute, I knew which way the wind came from and where the DZ was, but i was waiting for her to pick a field already. Then I landed next to her. Then a student came flying back and landed in our field as well! Turned out he had only a few jumps, but because of his paraglider experience he knew to land out together instead of flying back to the DZ which he also wouldn't have made but he could have landed MUCH closer. I was pleasantly surprised ciel bleu, Saskia
nitecap 0 #4 October 23, 2005 In the good old days he would have earned a free jump on the next available load a free gear rental and a free pack job. This applied to all static liners at our DZ

wildchild 0 #6 October 24, 2005 Well I suppose someone had to take the glory for it! Thanks for all you encouragement and pm's - I've learnt a lot from your advice and you're a great example to follow.____________________________ "If there is doubt, there is no doubt." - Tonto
wmw999 2,534 #7 October 24, 2005 Not a student, but recently off student status. We went up on a 4-way with someone with about 40 jumps and a pretty stout fall rate. He paid attention, spent most of the ride up visualizing the jump, and, well, did exactly what he was supposed to. When we released, he backed up about 3 feet (trust me, that's impressive). He was heads up about altitude, and did most of the work of closing. Didn't reach, just flew all the way to me and let his hands touch me. Very impressive, and way fun.
