Oopps 0 #1 September 28, 2005 Hey, I new here (from RC.com). I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what AFF is, and would this be a good idea for a first jump (cuz it's cheaper than tandem and I spent all my money on shiny stuff for climbing)? Someone over at RC.com community mentioned it as an alternative to tandem jumps. Thanks
skymama 37 #2 September 28, 2005 Read this page. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
ninjaswooper 0 #3 September 28, 2005 Hmm, the likelihood of getting a lower total cost for an AFF first jump vs a tandem is not high. Not when you consider the cost of ground school too. Usually the first AFF jump with ground school is a good 50 bucks or so more than a tandem. Plus the investment of time and energy is much greater. If you're in it for a good time, go tandem, if you are sure you want to pursue skydiving, well, I'd suggest AFF though others may disagree.
jumpinfarmer 0 #4 September 29, 2005 If you are a take charge kind of guy go for AFF. If not and just want a one time thrill go tandem. Seeing that you are a climber I would think you would like AFF much more and maybe even find a new passion.
Witelli 0 #5 September 29, 2005 At my DZ, we have AFP and that first "Fun" tandem counts towards it. I think if you never tried any sort of skydiving before, try a tandem. That way you'll know if you like it. Plus, you won't have to land on your own. Just my opinion though.
Superman32 0 #6 September 29, 2005 I agree, AFP gives the best of both worlds. AFP requires you to do 3 tandems and then you start AFF but with only one instructor instead of 2. This allows you to trully enjoy your first jump rather then completely stressing over it. It's also your first step in your training. Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches! incode 0 #7 September 29, 2005 is AFP different to TAF because you mad mention to it being 3 jumps where as TAF is just a tandem AFF jump with only the one instructer
