Newbie 0 #1 August 22, 2005 Average for us is about 13500ft AGL, on the last lift, it might go to 14-14500ft, although this is less frequent than it used to be. What do you guys get? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

Andy_Copland 0 #3 August 22, 2005 I hate it when i read about people exiting at 13000, i've never been that high! I sometimes exit as low as 11300 and have had a couple of 12000's, never been above that 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue. tdog 0 #9 August 22, 2005 Well... It is 12.8-12.9K AGL on average. Ad that to the field elevation of 5.1K and you get 17.9-18 MSL... Class A (Instrument Flight Rules, Flight Plan Required) airspace starts at 18K, so basically it seems that we are scraping the bottom of the controlled airspace on every jump... So at our DZ, "all the way" really is "all the way up"...
mt_skydiver 0 #10 August 22, 2005 Used to get 8-9k at LP, now that I'm doing more at Bozeman, we average 5k AGL due to the heat making the density around 10k and an old plane... but when the tandems aren't out sometimes they'll take us up to 8k...yay! You'll never find me Jew gold!
RossDagley 0 #11 August 22, 2005 Anywhere between 11.5k and 12.5k, depending on 1 part tidal forces and 2 parts guesswork I think! Jump at Hinton (UK). Got three jumps in on Sunday - 11,400, 12,800 and 12,000.

fmmobley 0 #13 August 22, 2005 At Skydive Monroe near Atlanta, GA it is 13,500. I am looking forward to my trip to Space City in Titusville FL, they go to 18,000.... Marion
BillyVance 34 #14 August 22, 2005 Average at my home DZ is 13,500 to 14,000 from the king air. However, when I was jumping mostly from Mullin's King Air at WTS or at his $99 boogies, we almost always got 14,500 to 15,000 on EVERY LOAD! Damn, I miss those days... My highest is 23,000, out of Mullins King Air, way back in 1997. I have some bad experiences at some DZs when I was newbie, not helpful or friendly but that's when they were so busy on a perfect blue skies day, everyone want to jump. I cant blame them. vt1977 0 #17 August 22, 2005 Average of 13,500ish. Highest of 17,300 on a regular load. Highest skydive was 23,000 from Mullins King Air at Quincy! Vicki
Dazzle 0 #18 August 22, 2005 At Langar 13,000 to 13'500 Up at Hib over the weekend where 15,000 is regular jump height (except the last load Saturday where they found a lost Tandem and put up a light load and could only get 12k in time, not too shabby at 2000 per min climb rate)
billvon 2,989 #19 August 22, 2005 12500-13000. I used to be all over 16K+ jumps on regular loads, but I guess I'm getting older, because I worry more about people getting hypoxic and causing each other grief than getting the extra 10 seconds of freefall. Elisha 1 #20 August 22, 2005 Most of you people are just so spoiled. Try going to cessna DZs where you maybe only get 9K because of some tandems or 12K tandems in reality get closer to 11K.
Elisha 1 #21 August 22, 2005 Quick question: What is a more powerful plane - a King Air or Beech 99? I have yet to jump out of a King Air, but have done a CASA, Skyvan, Pac750 and Beech 99 of the faster climbers.

I have yet to jump out of a King Air, but have done a CASA, Skyvan, Pac750 and Beech 99 of the faster climbers. Well, a Beech 99 is only slightly bigger than a King Air, but the power depends on the size of the engines in relation to the plane's weight, if I'm not mistaken. That said, quite a few King Airs are known to be incredibly fast climbers."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Uuuh, power doesn't really have anything to do with the weight of the plane, just what the engines produce. Power to weight ratio's and probably climb rates do though... demoknite 0 #25 August 22, 2005 I went to Sibson once and had a bad experience as well. All skygods and FFers. If you did not learn there or are one of the regulars dont expect any friendly treatment. Would rather jump a cessna at a small friendly DZ like Old Buckenham any day.
