monkycndo 0 #28 August 22, 2005 Standard is 15K, 18K for a few bucks more when a tandem is going, and about once a month we do a load to 24K. Proud to be a turbine snob.50 donations so far. gemini 0 #29 August 22, 2005 My highest was 30,500 AGL, but we usually get 13,000 to 14,900 at Spaceland. I would guess the average is 14K. Blue skies, Jim

When we're slumming, we settle for 13k at neighboring DZs. Below that is done voluntarily for HnPs.

Newbie 0 #32 August 22, 2005 Quote12500-13000. I used to be all over 16K+ jumps on regular loads, but I guess I'm getting older, because I worry more about people getting hypoxic and causing each other grief than getting the extra 10 seconds of freefall. HydroGuy 0 #33 August 22, 2005 @ Perris 12.5-12.8k AGL is avg. 13.5-13.8 AGL for: A. sunset loads B. when a pilot has the day off and is jumping (imagine that) C. when some nice lady "earns" the load extra altitudeGet in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
gravitysucks 0 #34 August 22, 2005 We get 10K, maybe 11K on rare occasions out of our Cessna 182WB's with field elevation 1200'MSL. QuoteUsed to get 8-9k at LP, now that I'm doing more at Bozeman, we average 5k AGL due to the heat making the density around 10k and an old plane... but when the tandems aren't out sometimes they'll take us up to 8k...yay! Hey mt_skydiver, look how much we have in common: We both 1. get lower jumps than all these people 2. got our A licenses on probably the same day and 3. both work in EMS. Plus I grew up not far from where you are now. Am I your evil twin? I didn't know you could jump in Bozeman, I'll have to look you guys up next time I'm in the area. darrenspooner 0 #37 August 22, 2005 I did 16500 in a Navajo in Australia about 4 years ago. JM and pilot got a huge bollocking, but I had a great time!
billvon 3,076 #38 August 22, 2005 >Do you get to decide the exit altitude bill? Sometimes I have some control over it. When I organize big-ways I can often choose the altitude. On smaller loads, bitching about going above 15K sometimes works to keep altitudes lower; sending the chick up to flash the pilot sometimes gets us higher. kelpdiver 2 #39 August 22, 2005 Or Byron, or Monterey if the weather is good. Hollister has been the most consistent for me.
hexadecimal 0 #41 August 22, 2005 Usually somewhere around 12.8-13.5k... but we get extra altitude pretty frequently. Highest I've been was slightly above 17k, and I've been on at least 4 or 5 loads that got 14.5-15k.
MB38 0 #42 August 22, 2005 I've been between 12,800 and 13,500 on my jumps at Perris.I really don't know what I'm talking about.
Elisha 1 #43 August 22, 2005 I've been on several from 14-15k, but never over (maybe 500 ft, but that's it).
alw 0 #44 August 23, 2005 Normally 15k and change. I average 2-3 18K's each weekend. DZ Elevation 800 ft Trip to 15k 7 minutes Trip to 18k 9-10 minutes God bless the turbeen I'm excited about this weekend - I "get to jump" a 182. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure. kelpdiver 2 #45 August 23, 2005 QuoteDZ Elevation 800 ft Trip to 15k 7 minutes Trip to 18k 9-10 minutes Which DZ is that? Highest point in Florida is well below 800ft. Love those climbing speeds. Though except when I had a Neptune on loan, I only think of climbing as fast, normal, and damn slow.
alw 0 #46 August 23, 2005 Quiet man - if the DZO finds out we're going to 15,600 on every load we'll get busted back to 15 --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

skyberdyber 0 #48 August 23, 2005 At Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston, we go to 14,000 AGL or higher almost every load in our Super King Air. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
alw 0 #49 August 23, 2005 QuoteJumping a 182 is NOT exciting, but boring by comparison. Think of it this way - It's 97 degrees F on the ground and you're gonna be back in 13 minutes or less - now balance that against a nice leisurely ride to altitude in a 182. Boring and Cool --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.
