Post AFF training questions.

Recommended Posts

I have some questions regarding stuff after my AFF is completed. First, I don't have a lot of money to buy my own gear right away. So I'll have to rent it until I can save for a complete rig and equipment. Are there any things I should look out for in rental equipment? Is there anything bad about it other than it prolly won't fit me like a glove like a custom rig will? Also, how much does rental equipment cost? Is it usually charged by the hour, per jump, half/full day?

rental gear is not a bad way to start until you can find something that suits you. Just like any rig your going to strap on, inspect it like your AFF instructor showed you. Depending on the DZ your jumping at the rig rental will vary; I jump in Deland I think the rental rate is 25.00 a jump unless you make 3 or more than its 65.00 for the day plus pack jobs. dont rush buying gear, be safe

Your in Indio I see, so you probably jump at Perris or Elsinore mostly. At Elsinore (and I believe Perris also), they have very nice rental gear with adjustable harnesses on most. It is $60 per day (or $35 for a half-day). You will have no trouble finding the right gear for you. One suggestion though, if you are renting gear, you should probably get to the dropzone early so you can select the gear of your choice.

Hope to see you around. . .

Keep in mind that you can get used gear for pretty cheap. I bought my first rig for $900 (admittedly, that was a long time ago and it was a piece of crap) but still, good deals are available if you don't care much about appearances.

Thanks, that gave me a bit of releif about rental gear. With anything thats rental, I know that it is only as good as the previous person took care of it. (If that makes any sense.) Some people don't care about things if its not theirs, thus treat it with less respect. [:/] Thanks for the info!
