Orange1 0 #1 July 25, 2005 There have been some threads on jumpsuits and speed recently... I got my own custom jumpsuit finally - I thought the club suit I'd been using fit pretty well (tight) but wow - just the change in jumpsuit has seen my average speed (without weights) increase from 109mph to 120mph! Now, has anyone else jumping with booties for the first time found dive exits more difficult?Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
Tonto 1 #2 July 25, 2005 Quotemore difficult? Nothing is more difficult. It's just different from what you're used to, and doing what you used to will need to change a little. Congrats on the new suit. Is it from Icarus? tIt's the year of the Pig.
Reginald 0 #3 July 25, 2005 Ah, a proper jumpsuit is a thing of beauty. It’s the most important pieces of gear you have other than your life saving gear. A proper jump suite can make all the difference in the world in terms of fall rate and control in the air. If you’re new to booties, it will take you 5 jumps to get some basic control of them and another good number to really get the feel. I openly admit I’m bootie dependent. When I jump without them I just don’t feel right. They are like power steering. They are a big difference from what you are used to but once you get the hang of them they will give you more control and power. You will actually change your flying style given the new tools at your disposal."We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
Orange1 0 #4 July 25, 2005 QuoteIt's just different from what you're used to nice way of looking at it. Any tips for getting used to it more easily? And yes, Icarus - I figured getting Manny to measure me up would be easier than possibly getting measurements wrong and sending overseas for something. Reginald - yes, i've been told up to 10 jumps to figure it out. I certainly found turning much faster, once I got over the initial wobble.Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. It is definitely like having power steering!! And then theres also the fact that now i look like a proper skydiver compared to when i had to wear the horrible black boiler suits they have at hinton!! lowie 0 #7 July 28, 2005 The only thing I noticed with wearing booties for the first time was the difference they made tracking.
