bseriesboosted 0 #1 June 13, 2005 I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried to deploy a main canopy while flying in an outside tunnel if so what happened. or what would happen if somone did try it...Pruitt Skydive The Farm
TOTALCHAOS127 0 #2 June 13, 2005 not sure but my best guess would be to get hurt. But if someone did it would be great video

darkwing 5 #4 June 13, 2005 I'm sure you could put a test canopy and load on it and have someone deploy it... -- Jeff My Skydiving History
MrBrant 0 #5 June 13, 2005 I'm guessing that a round might work better - since it won't surge out of the airflow. But that's just my guess
JohnRich 4 #6 June 13, 2005 Quotewhat would happen if somone did try it... It shouldn't take long for some bored skydivers to try this... All you need is a crash test dummy wearing a spring-loaded pilot chute rig. Tether the dummy to the bottom netting with a three ring release, with the cutaway handle hooked to a long rope. Tie the ripcord handle to another rope. Crank up the wind tunnel air speed. Ready... Set... Go! Pull the rope releasing the pilot chute. As the lines start to come off the bag, pull the rope releasing the dummy from the netting. Timing is everything! Video! I predict the canopy would open, fall out of the air stream, and crash the dummy violently into the ground before it has time to assume normal flight. Please don't substitute a live human for the crash test dummy.

Bodyflight.Net 0 #8 June 13, 2005 I believe so... Florida some years ago, outdoor unit, I believe it was planned to cutaway at line stretch but that did not work out. He missed the decking... I don't believe he's walking today.... 'nuff said? Pink Suits, Blue Skies & Fast Air, Dawn Suiter PMTS #
