Hazarrd 1 #1 April 2, 2004 Not sure where to post this. Have a friend who hurt her wrist (not sure how bad). She wants to jump in 2 weeks, she is either getting a hard cast or a soft cast. Anyone see a problem with her doing a tandem with a hard cast on? .-.
Nightingale 0 #2 April 2, 2004 um... I see the same problem as a tandem passenger wearing a helmet. one wrong move and they KO their JM. Plus, you have to look at the uneven weight balance (hard casts can be heavy), and the what if she lands on it wrong factor. Best thing you could do is call the DZ and ask the TMs, though. I couldn't say for sure, I'm just guessing.
OnYourBack 0 #3 April 2, 2004 I took a passenger last year that had prosthetic arms from the elbow down with the pinching metal hooks for hands. We had no troubles. Spent a little extra time in the briefing but had no troubles in the dive. It'll ultimately be up to the individual TM though so just ask.
LawnDart21 0 #4 April 2, 2004 Darren, have her talk w/the doctor that puts the cast on, if her doctor thinks its okay, I'll take her. -- My other ride is a RESERVE.

LawnDart21 0 #6 April 2, 2004 No problemo. We can turn her cast into her "1st Jump Certificate" after the jump! -- My other ride is a RESERVE.
DutchSkyCam 0 #7 April 2, 2004 Expecially during opening the weight of a (hard-)cast could cause more damage to the arm (or the instructor's head). I would tie the arm across the chest to the chest strap. After the opening it could be untied. Barry.
chuteless 1 #8 April 5, 2004 Ive jumped with hard cast on wrist, and later on ankle. Didnt cause any problems. No reason why she shouldnt jump if she feels well enough. Bill Cole D-
