Is this an exit door

The plane that hit the container Looks to have a door forwards of the wing strut. Is this the pilots door or an exit door?

If it's an exit door would the strut being behind it cause isses?

Hehe I really doubt that's a jump plane. 337s have a second prop in back. That's a very nice, pressurized plane, not suitable for jumping. At least I hope...

The 337 is on the approved list for flight with one door removed:

If it is doable, SOMEBODY would want to!

Its a flying pushmepullyou!

What everyone else said, yuckie for jumping methinks. Maybe worth a dibble just for novelty...as long as you realise the potential hazards.;):)

just not a jump plane.

The pilot hit the manifest, that doesn't make it a jump plane... :o

You can legally jump out of the co-pilot's door of a Cessna 337 Skymaster, but why bother?
While you are unlikely to hit the rear propeller, prudence says to stop the rear engine before climbing out. You have a tough time convincing most pilots to shut down a healthy engine in flight.

Besides, a Cessna 206 will carry more jumpers for half the operating costs (one engine versus two) and the 206 has a safer door.
Even a Cessna 210 is safer.

Ed O'Brien owned a 337 (N2617F) on St. Thomas (USVI) that he used for skydiving on a fairly regular basis. I have a couple of jumps from it - as my log notes on one of them - "4 star with Ed, Peter, Charlie. No suiter". Alt. 8500. Landed on Morningstar Beach, right in front of the bar.

I know they actually put out some static line types back in the early 70's.. for grins."

Been there--did it. 10/24/76 at Perris, CA. S/L from 3K. JM, Dean Westgaard D-2956 (deceased).

Exit form consisted of legs out the door, at "jump" command, pushed with both hands on botton edge of door. Not sure if rear prop was turning on jump run or not.
