jedeisurf 0 #26 March 17, 2004 I take 6mg of xanax a day it does not effect my jumping. It is not a pain med but it does slow your response time. I swoop a canopy at approx. 1.8 or 1.9 on every jump it does not seem to effect my skydiving because it is a med that I need. David
Nightingale 0 #27 March 17, 2004 it depends on the person. in my case, Vicodin knocks me on my ass. If I have to take it, I don't drive, skydive, or do ANYTHING. in my brother's case, I've seen him pop two Vicodin and go out and play an awesome game of tennis or pitch a no-hitter. If he was a jumper, I wouldn't have a problem jumping with him if he was on Vicodin, because in his case, all it does is take away pain and doesn't impair function. skybytch 273 #28 March 17, 2004 QuoteIf he was a jumper, I wouldn't have a problem jumping with him if he was on Vicodin From a previous post in this thread - QuotePressure, both increased and decreased is a big influence on medication. Altitude intensifies the effects of psychoactive drugs. He may be just fine on Vicodin on the ground. 12,500 feet is a bit different place. And, imho, skydiving is a bit different than tennis or baseball. Like I said earlier, I had no problem at all driving when I'd been on Vicodin and Soma 24/7 for a few months. Knowing that altitude intensifies a drug's effects (from personal experience), there's no way I would jump on any pain meds - wouldn't do it then, won't do it now. benny 0 #29 March 17, 2004 After the reeming people got for saying that they'd jump on pot and now this... sorry, but pain pills are worse than weed any day, warning label should read don't drive, operate heavy machinery or jump out of an airplane while on this medication. Never go to a DZ strip show.

I don't want to share airspace with anyone impaired Quotebecause in his case, all it does is take away pain and doesn't impair function. Although I'm sure that you know your brother well, and have seen him perform sports while on pain killers. The circumstances are not the same as skydiving, infact are not even similar.. I don't recall the last time I heard of someone accidentaly killing someone else from a split second mistake while playing baseball or a game of tennis.
