need help with aff 2

did my aff 2 jump this past weekend and i did ok but i'm choosing to do it over again because i honestly felt like it did not go that well. my only problem was not having my legs out far enough. can anyone tell me the best way to know if your legs are out far enough and how do you determine if they are out enough. thanks

Make sure you feel the wind blowing on your feet. If you cannot feel that, then your feet are in the burble created by your upper legs and your lower legs will not provide any drive. Also, if you get the "legs out" signal, get them out and KEEP THEM THERE. Many, many students will initially respond to the signal, but will pull them back in during practice pulls or during the turns on level II (technically CAT B in the USA).

I am NOT qualified to give instructor type advice, other than my AFF being fresh in my memory and I have just walked in your shoes. I know once or twice I felt some of the stuff I did in AFF did not, in your terms, “go that well”. In my debrief, I used the terms, “I was able to do it, but it was sloppy.”

Remember, each level in AFF builds on previous levels skills – so you will get to continue to practice and work on skills as you go along.

I know nothing about your experience or instructor's opinion - my only point is to say, don't expect everything to feel perfect on your second, or, in my case, my 16th jump. But things will get better.

About the feet... Ask your instructor about toe taps. Taping your toes against each other requries you to know where your feet are... I can't feel the wind on my feet very much, but I can "learn" where my feet are by a tap. This is what worked for me...

By your third jump you should be a bit more relaxed and you will start "feeling" and "seeing" more and more on each skydive. Do your jumps as frequently as possible.

Generally on your first skydive you don't see more than your altimeter and a jumpmasters hand or face. Then by jump #2 you might actually see the ground. Your awareness level continues to expand with each skydive. Your awareness level of your body position will increase with each jump too.

On your next jump as you are thinking about your arch, also think about slowly and smoothly extending your legs until you "feel" them.

I bet on your next skydive you'll actually realize they are there!

It was suggested to me that I not wear socks to amplify the sensations. I don't think it worked for me, but it can't hurt (unless it's cold where you are).
