Explaining Your Job??!!

OK, you go to a dropzone, you meet some great people! Then it happens.........some one asks you what you do to make money??? You tell them your job title My job title is a "Lean Six Sigma Black Belt"
Two questions........are there any other LSSBB's out there or do you know what I do?

....and, what job title to you have that is hard to explain to anybody else? (not just skydivers)

That is part of it but the company I work for does not really manufacture (in the common sense of the word).. We have added the Lean. Have you heard of Six Sigma?

Yea, I'm an engineering student at Purdue and we learned all about it last semester... my professor was a six sigma black belt in the auto industry. Pretty hard core stuff. The company I worked for this summer just integrated some lean cells into their assembly floor. So, thats where I got my bs guess :-P If you don't manufacture then, are you in software?

It does, however, seem to be that this thread is in the wrong forum, not much to do about skydiving.

You hit the point I was trying to make.

Our company thought about changing the title of the position. But since it is starting to get international recognition the company did not think they should do that. (we did not start this program) The title is "different" to say the least and I was wondering how many people at dropzones had heard of it. (Six Sigma Black Belt) Now, if I missed the point of quades post I am sorry but, we don't cut positions or people. If the tile is scary well....sorry, I did not create it. And if I am getting to touchy about all of this forgive me.......too many martinis maybe but again, I was just wondering if anybody in skydiving had heard of the title??

We have black and green belts. You could just tell folks you're a sort of efficiency expert for processes rather than time-and-motion.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I know what Six Sigma is... seems every company on the planet pounced on it about six years ago.
Its a very useful skill.. but I just dont like stats that much.

ps- I'm an Implementation Specialist for a software company.
That usually needs some defining as well.
