gravityizsexy 0 #1 December 3, 2004 just curious... does anyone else here feel or share a relationship between your skydiving and his/her personality? In other words, does the way you fly define your personality/ vice versa? I was with an instructor the other day, and after a couple jumps he critiqued my performance , as he was telling me ways to improve, he unknowingly gave me pointers and advice (with striking relevance) , not only to progress in skydiving but in life as well. I went further with my thought and concluded that how I play in the air resembles how I function in every day life. I've incorporated all the primal basics in my theory ( fear, aggression, love, caution, patience, confidence, learning capacity, etc...) but most of all ability. Not that I'll die if anyone can't relate, but is there anyone else out there than can put this together or am I just extremely high right now??? Zenister 0 #2 December 3, 2004 the manner in which you do anything says a lot about who you are... i would say however, that skydiving made me examine everything in a manner different from that which i had prior... if you maintain an open mind every new, powerful experience should have that effect.. many people try to fit whatever they experience into their lives as they currently are, afraid of what change represents perhaps... i prefer to allow experience to shape who am i rather than hold stubbornly to a preconceived pattern.... two qoutes come to mind... gravityizsexy 0 #3 December 3, 2004 ahhh... alas, we are not talking about the same things. I am referring to technique, quite contrary to experience. However, I do believe that it is experience that molds technique so you do have a point, though I am not talking about that. I am simply asking is there a correlation between the way you fly and your personality? "'Someday is not a day in my week'"
Squeak 17 #4 December 3, 2004 Quote I am simply asking is there a correlation between the way you fly and your personality? There is for me, like when I aproach formations I tend to be a little to cautious, I do this in life aswell. When I first meet a group of people I'm reserved, and aprehensive, and I tend to look mad or serious (I'm rearely either) The same thing when I fly, I look Like MR Bussiness, all serious and shit, but inside, I'm singing and dancing. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?

skyhighkiy 0 #6 December 3, 2004 going out on a limb here. I love skydiving naked. Similar to life, I love to let everyone know everything there is to know about me, to know the true me, to be 'exposed' and vulnerable to attack, because i trust. BE THE BUDDHA! Zenister 0 #8 December 4, 2004 still talking about the same things... how you do anything reveals details about your personality...be it walking, dancing or even skydiving... experience is simply what shapes that..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Jskydiver22 0 #9 December 4, 2004 O, for sure. Just the way i skydive is for sure related to life. Since i freefly, i guess i tend to act a little wacky, just like in life. Have a lot of fun, yet be serious. Hope thats what you lookin for. --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
skyhighkiy 0 #10 December 4, 2004 regarding the FF comment, I've noticed that, I'm a ff/swooping freak (meaning that I"m working really hard on the skills required to become those, because that's where i want to take my skydiving) but i've noticed that a lot of the ff'ers seem to be a little more on the crazy side, compared to ppl that are mainly RW....then again, i haven't been in the game long BE THE BUDDHA! dropzonefool 0 #11 December 4, 2004 most of the RW people I have met are recoverded alcholics or ex crackheads all steming from the 70's. they swoop there batwings- heatwaves with fury thinking they are cool. Most of the freeflyiers I have met are reserved and only party in small groups with others like them. I dont know if this is a change of the times, or just a sign of change. Just because some freeflyer gets drunk and takes all of his clothes off and jumps in to the bonfire dosen't mean some RW dude in the seventies hasen't already tried it! lol 0.02 worth, simmy
gravityizsexy 0 #12 December 4, 2004 Quotestill talking about the same things... how you do anything reveals details about your personality...be it walking, dancing or even skydiving... experience is simply what shapes that.. yeah, your absolutley right. I guess we are talking about the same thing. For me personally, I find more of my personality traits more apparent in my skydiving. I just find it really really intresting how they both have in common (my personality and my skydiving) it's almost scary actually.
