windcatcher 0 #2 December 3, 2004 Hey grue! If you do a search, you'll find lots of answers to your question,ie, winter jumps. I know this because I don't want to freeze up north while I'm desperately waiting to come home to OK after Christmas break. (wear lots of layers, use lined gloves w/ grips--make sure you can still grab your hackey, toggles, etc) edit to add: there's a guy at my dz that likes to wear a facemask, and though we kid with him about looking like a terrorist/bank robber, I imagine he stays pretty warm. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...
slotperfect 7 #3 December 3, 2004 We do some high altitude stuff in the Winter sometimes that gets pretty cold. Thin layers of "technical" fabrics (microfiber, fleece, etc) work well for me. I also use those chemical hand warmers in the aircraft, shoving them in my jumpsuit pocket before the door comes open. Otherwise I just accept the fact that I'm going to be a bit cold. hottamaly 1 #4 December 3, 2004 I've had good luck with using latex gloves (like surgeons use) under my regular gloves. You might get a little sweaty if you produce allot of heat, though. Also, if there isn't allot of canopy traffic around you, don't keep your arms and hands up on the toggles all the time. Let them fall to your side to keep the blood in them. Yeah, there should be little to no traffic in the air besides me. I'm doing my last PRCP, and then my first hop and pop, so I'll be on the ground before anyone else jumps.cavete terrae. BIGUN 1,312 #14 December 4, 2004 The only thing I wear different in the winter than in the summer is an extra pair of socks and some Nuemann winter gloves. I love feeling the cold. It's invigorating.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
Jskydiver22 0 #15 December 4, 2004 Umm...pretty much just try to sit by the pilot (we have 182's) Then, dont open the door until the pilot says go, make climb outs really fast. Then most of the time i ride in brakes under canopy and steer with harness turns while i keeps my hands warm the best i can. Or, just go really fast under canopy and get it over with. --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
