skytash 0 #27 November 17, 2004 QuoteNo voting this year, not enough candidates. That is one of the things that annoys me about British jumpers. Everyone complains about the BPA council members not taking the other members seriously but we can't even find more than 15 people prepared to join concil. Although there are things I would like to see changed in how the BPA is run, I don't have the time to devote to be on council and actually do anything about it, so I keep my mouth shut. I have been to a couple of council meetings as an observer and would say that a fair amount of effort and thought is put into the things being discussed and decided there. Until I am actually prepared to DO something about how the BPA is run I won't criticise the council. Also, bear in mind that the work the BPA has to do with the CAA etc is similar to that of the USPA and they have to spread their costs between far fewer members, so the cost per member is invariably going to be higher. tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. Zoter 0 #28 November 17, 2004 I think there are plenty of people who feel passionate about how things are done and run.......it does tell another story however if the majority of people in the Association remain apathetic about getting involved in it......I would argue that alot of people simply regard the BPA as a membership that is a necessity if you want to jump in the UK......beyond that...well 'm not sure. I have seen this is another 'mandatory' National association ( the English Ice Hockey Association)......you have to join to participate in the sport...beyond that...no-one really see's whats being done 'for them' by the Association.....but if you dont join up....you cant participate From what I see of the BPA minutes....it must be terrifying for somebody 'new' or without 'allies' in the association making an impact on something....because there does seem to be alot of alliance's going on in the background that can make or break decisions on various issues.....I might be wrong, this is just how I read it from the minutes. Ok I just looked at the BPA council members, now I'll refrase 90% of the BPA council are EX MILITARY with military mentality. Gone fishing
obelixtim 150 #30 November 20, 2004 I rest my case.......... Actually, I've had lots of dealings with military trained jumpers, going as far back as WW2 veterans who I've retrained to jump in their 70's, and who I respect and admire to the max...... The ones who run the BPA are, however, in my opinion, a bunch of wankers..... I challenge any of them to prove me wrong...My computer beat me at chess, It was no match for me at kickboxing....
