ltdiver 3 #1 October 10, 2004 http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041009/NEWS/410090336/1021 This article only mentions hurricane Charley. Rumor has it here at Nationals that Lake Wales sustained too much damage in the last hurricane and will no longer re-open. Sorry if this has already been covered recently, but we'd like to know what the real current story is from anyone there locally. Thanks. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ScottishJohn 25 #2 October 10, 2004 Can you confirm that they are going to cease skydiving at lake Wales Quote no longer re-open or will they just not be ready in time for the nationals. I just checked their web site and they say that they are open and jumping although I don't know the last time the web site was updated. PhreeZone 20 #3 October 11, 2004 Last I heard from someone that was staff at Lake Wales was that they have already staked out the location of the new hangers (yes hangers) and were going to start rebuilding soon. Rebuilding was expected to take about 9-12 months and would have all new facilities that were to be bigger and better then before. Some of out staff was getting ready to take off and head south today to Lake Wales for this winter again so I know they are still in operation and are planning on rebuilding.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
EDYDO 0 #4 October 11, 2004 Yep, they are in operation and starting to rebuild. They just moved into temporary facilities a "safe" distance away from the debris and construction. Ed

dreamsville 0 #6 October 11, 2004 There is an employee assistance and rebuilding fund for Lake Wales. I don't have the post off-hand, but it went up shortly afer the first hurricane went through. You can probably find out by calling them. |I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane.
