Georgia State POPS Record Today!

Recommended Posts

The old farts did it today at Skydive Monroe! A 12 way held for app. 10 seconds on the very first attempt. Congrats to all of the geezers there today.

Just a small note. I looked at the footage today and put a stopwatch on it. The formation was held for a full 15 seconds. And that is after a less than spectacular launch of the base. B| Pretty impressive.

Dude, it was a TWELVE WAY!:S:P

Be sure that someone, somewhere, is cracking on your 125 way dive with their 300 way. Somebody is always bigger, faster & better.

This was an all skydive monroe POPs dive. Not a big event, just a weekend. The guy that put it together is a new jumper with 70 jumps,(started when he was 55yrs old) Some of the other guys have 3000+ jumps. As there were no POPS records in Ga., then this 12 way is it for now.

Props to POPS

You might want to check with POPS on what records are valid....this one is in-process of approval. Maybe you were thinking of some other organization's dive.

What a great time we had....and btw, CONWAY, WE APPRECIATE YOUR POSITIVE SUPPORT - not everyone at Skydivespaceland-Rosharon,TX thinks as you do. I'm sure there are some good, supportive people out there.
My reality and yours are quite different.

No, I wasn't clear.

The July '03 jump was the Georgia State Formation Skydiving record attempt. It was not planned to be a POPS record attempt. I was just mentioning that most of the attendees were POPS qualified. Joking about how many oldsters were there. :)
To be a record of any type, the attempt has to be identified as such, in advance.

My bad, happythoughts....you know how it is with us old folks, eh? POPS records are always lower than the norm because it's so hard to get us out of bed in the morning and we need our afternoon naps and we keep dying from stupid stuff like old age so it's hard to get enough of us together at one time to do the REALLY BIG formations![:/]

We did manage to get a coouple of triple-digit dives done though, and there were no canes, walkers nor wheelchairs out the door...;)

Skydiving teaches us humility, cooperation, and looking out for each other. Part of this community is sharing the joy of others' accomplishments. How great or small makes no difference. Failure to learn humility, cooperation, and looking out for one another makes a jumper a danger to all others sharing the sky. Belittling fellow jumpers' accomplishments is petty and selfish. By the tags in your post, jumperconway, you're a braggart. That's two strikes against you. Until you clearly show some better qualities, I wouldn't want to be in the sky with you.

Apparently you haven't met me so I haven't been to the plate yet, no strikes.Until you clearly show some better qualities, I wouldn't want to be in the sky with you.

Since this is the one and only annonomous post you have made, I feel that your credibility is cloaked. All my information is posted for a reason, where's your's? If I have offended someone credible, my appology, it was said in jest. (note):S:P

July '03, I was in Ga for another swat at the Ga State Form record. It stands at 66 right now. Because of some problems, only 35 of the expected 90 showed up.

We still did a lot of 30-plus ways. Lots of old farts on those. :D

The GA state record is a 64 way in May 1997 at Monroe. I was on it... As for last year, I seem to recall rumors (only rumors) that inter-DZ politics played a role in the collapse of Cedartown's state record plans before it even started. I can't say anything more because I don't know anything else.

I do recall a friend being there telling me that about all but 2 or 4 youngsters were old enough to be POPS and they would easily have had a 30+ POPS record if they'd planned for it.

Works for those of us that enjoy jumping with Conway.

I'm guessing you haven't bothered to watch Conway on a skydive with low timers. He goes out of his way to teach them and help him.

I was there in '98 for the 100-way attempt. We never built to more than 80, I believe. We didn't have as much time as we needed because the weather eliminated the first day.

It's was huge fun anyway. I enjoyed the jumps and hanging out with everyone. B|

jumperconway,

You dogged my buddies' accomplishment in establishing the first POPS record for Georgia. When you're called on this in the forum, your reply is defensive - strike one.

Your every post contains tags about your records, your canopy, your wing loading... You're bragging while your belittling other jumpers' accomplishments - strike two.

I did not call you an "ASSHAT". I called you on your callow posts to the forum.

Questioning my credibility as a skydiver because I took exception to your posts isn't showing your better qualities, is it?

popsjumper is a gray-haired low-timer with a very good attitude, a lot of energy, and all the qualities that make others happy to get in the sky with him. The Georgia POPS 12 way was his baby. It was a great skydive for #71.

The next time the Georgia POPS or some low-timers post their accomplishments, show your better qualities. Be nice. Be generous. Be encouraging.

At least one jumper at your home DZ says you're a stand-up guy. Don't leave it all at the DZ. Bring that into the forum.

:oWow! Some one's a little grumpy.

First off, at least Conway doesn't hide to speak what's on his mind, unlike you.

I'm not from Conway's home DZ, but I have jumped with him, and I will tell you, Conway is a stand up guy.

So what! What is wrong with letting the world know what you have done?

Why not come out of the closet and tell us who you really are. Or are you worried what you say here will come back and bite you in the ass. At least Conway and Ron too, are some of the people that we know who they are, and they aren't afraid to speak their minds.

Go away little troll:ph34r:

John Woo and I were there for that too. And the 80 ways the season before that which was completely weathered out... Lots of fun, eh...

Well Mr. or Ms. Anonymous,
Popsjumper can read and he had no problem with my clarification, please read above. As for my accomplishments, yes I am proud of those but not to belittle the accomplishments of others. Popsjumper, whom I personally congratulated understood the jest. As for my canopy and wingloading being posted, if I comment to someone about canopy or control issues, they don't have to look it up. As for the rest of the information, MY profile is complete, I don't hide behind anonymity when I make a statement. It is plain who I am and where I can be found and can be corroberated by quite a number of posters here as to who and how I am, especially some lower time jumpers here. I post my actual verifiable jump #s because every single one of them is an accomplishment and I'm damn proud of them too.
I didn't question your credibility as a skydiver because I have no reason to believe that you even are one. I question your credibility completely. Anyone can post here. I kinda take exception to the fact that your only 2 posts are directed solely at me even after the person that I supposedly offended has excepted my explanation and appology and congratulation.
