Squeak 17 #26 September 4, 2004 QuoteQuoteWould you get married without sleeping with her first? Uh, actually, yes. If I ever do it again I will wait. Can't go into detail here, but speak with couples who waited and you'll get some very positive feedback. Immorality can have its thrills, but... Its called a joke. Yeah but you make so FEW of them it's hard to tell sometimes You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? SkydiveNFlorida 0 #28 September 6, 2004 I've demo'd all of my mains before purchasing. I did not demo my reserve, container, helmet, or any of my altis, etc. Of course, my reserve is a PD which has a pretty damned good rep, so I didn't bother demoing because I'd already made up my mind that I wasn't buying any other reserve. MarkM 0 #29 September 7, 2004 If I was buying a new canopy or reserve, I'd demo a few brands beforehand to see if I liked it. It's pretty easy to demo a lot of stuff in Florida, just travel to the right DZ. When I buy a Birdman suit this spring I'll demo one beforehand to see if I like it. But I bought both of my canopies used and figured if I didn't like them, I could just turn around and sell them for about what I paid for them. I wouldn't bother a manufacturer about a demo if I was just going to turn around and buy their canopy used from the classifieds. Gear like my rig, helmet and alt I bought based solely on rep. My suit I bought based on price, it was cheap enough that if I didn't like it I wouldn't be out much cash.
DrewEckhardt 0 #30 September 7, 2004 I've demoed all my skydiving mains prior to buying except the first one (anything would beat paying $25 per jump under a 295). I demoed the last reserve I bought (I didn't care when I bought my first rig, and didn't know any better when I bought my Tempo). Demoed the second BASE canopy I bought (The first was used, since I wanted something and figured I could sell it for what I paid if it was too scary). Container comfort is mostly a function of harness sizing - you can't demo that. I'd buy anything that came in the container sizes I wanted with the right features. Reginald 0 #31 September 8, 2004 I demoed my reserve on my first cutaway! Seriously, I researched the gear and took the advice of a master riger. Demo's are frequently not available for low time jumpers. Dosen't PD require 200 jumps before they will send a demo canopy? All that said I've been extremely happy with all of my gear. I don't think I coudl have made any better choices."We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things."
