grue 1 #1 August 15, 2004 I had my first two PRCP jumps today, and stuck both my landings. The first jump, I had radio talking me in for my setup, flare timing, etc. The second jump, the one I'm really proud of, the ground radioman said he'd only radio to make sure it worked at the beginning of the jump, and then after that, only if I looked like I needed help. Ended up flying my whole way in, and REALLY stuck the landing. Came in about 15' from the instructor on the grass, didn't even need to take a step to run it out. Just bent my knees, then stood up, and pulled my canopy down. One more PRCP, and on to freefall!cavete terrae.

grue 1 #3 August 15, 2004 Looks like no couchfreaks, unfortunately. I'm gonna have a lot of soccer that weekend. College athletics make having a life outside them a PITA. I don't know how I'm gonna convince my coach I have to take a day off every 30 days.cavete terrae.
Jeth 0 #4 August 16, 2004 Congrats on your great landings! I had a crap landing on Saturday, nearly broke my ankle! I'm gonna stick to butt-slides for awhile to be safe. I did pretty good in freefall, tho. My release dive and I didn't spin out or flip over. YES! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! jheadley 0 #5 August 16, 2004 congrats, dude. Nothing's better than going through a great skydive and having a great standup landing. Don't you just love those student rigs? So docile and forgiving. I used a 260 sq. ft. canopy for my first 6 AFF's and stood up all of them like you said without even running it out. They switched me to a 210 on level 7 and now I want to go back to the
grue 1 #6 August 16, 2004 I'm on a 290 right now, and it's, uh, very tame. I'm a big guy though (6'3", 220lbs without gear), but I'm looking forward to downsizing.cavete terrae.
mattjw916 2 #7 August 16, 2004 lol, I had my head up my ass and landed a Nav 220 loaded at ~.92 downwind... it was actually pretty fun gently sliding across the wet grass NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

Downwind landings aren't as bad as hitting the ground in a low turn I landed off, downwind (didn't accuratly determine wind directoin and realized i was going the wrong way too low to turn around), in a bean field before I got my A, was a good experience, wasn't injured... wouldn't suggest it but I am not afraid to downwind it.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. jheadley 0 #9 August 19, 2004 yea the most fun landing I've had so far was a downwind landing . I knew I was going downwind but didn't want to change my pattern. As I got close to the ground I kep thinking, "wow, I'm going way too fast". As I flared, I felt like I was swooping, like I was just gliding a foot off the ground for about 5 seconds and then when I landed, I spun around backwards and the canopy drug me for what seemed like 20 feet. a97virago 0 #10 August 20, 2004 Let me just caution on butt-slide landings. I had on last year that instead of sliding, I got dumped right on my ass. Fractured my tailbone. The problem with buttslides is you can't PLF from one. My opinion: I'd rather PLF! Larry A-43434
