PAC 750 IN THE USA!!!

Recommended Posts

It's been a long time coming, but I am happy to say it's here. Congratulations to Ray, Phil, and Chris, I know they have worked long and hard on this project!

Ray flew it himself from NZ, and did the 16.5 hour flight from Hawaii comfortably.

Couple picturs, one refuling at a place called Pago-Pago

And the other with his welcoming crew in Davis! They'll be flying Load 1 this weekend, sorry I'll miss it!

See ya in Rantoul Ray!

Harder than you think - It'll only be on the ground about 10 minutes for the entire convention!!!!!!

It, like the other elevators, will get a well deserved rest overnight...Until Mr. Mullins gives everyone the morning wakeup call... ;)

Very sleek looking airplane...May it be well received at dropzones worldwide....
..But.... it does look like the cabin might have a Low ceiling....[:/]:o.. Is there good head room inside..? I notice the step outside the door is low,,, like on a Porter....Will Six Footers have to stoop over,,, while inside the plane???? Are there seats? or do all jumpers sit on the floor????? What is the aircrafts capacity???.......How many jumpers???/
and as long as I'm asking so many stupid:Squestions...;) ,,, what's the rate of climb, when loaded???? thanx.. jmy

er... ok:
yes there's a low ceiling, that does mean stooping, but there's plenty of room once sat down. There are also (a very cool feature) grab rails along the ceiling to assist you in getting up, (at least there were on the one I jumped - everyone loved this idea and wished more jump ships had them).

I had no problem on the camera step - I'm 6'2". It was very comfortable and easy to use. Inside, yes you stoop - just like on virtually all mid-sized jump ships... is that that much of an issue?

Capacity is 18 - climb rate fully loaded is something like 12 in 12... or there abouts, I forget but I'm sure someone will post a link to their site. Point is it's still nice and quick - very big engine see :)

Tell you what everyone - I've got some pics from the other weekend jumping one of these and some video of me exiting - I'll see if I can post it tonight. There's one good shot I can think of where I'm last out on a 10 way... that should give a shot of how big the interior is.

The stereo's cool ;)

Did they get a discount with that paint job?

Hey, wait a minute. Ain't you a Canadian?

(shouts over his shoulder) "When did the Canuk's opinion start to matter?"

Oh.

:D

I would have gone for an Orange and Black thing myself, but........

Ok, no video as I forgot that I needed a firewire port when I built my new pc two days ago.

So here's some pic's.

These are a few frame grabs from a 3-way horny gorrila exit. You can see the tail passing well clear of Timmy's head. I guess the wide angle lens makes it appear much closer than it is mind... but I assure you it's miles away.

And finally a ground shot to show the the body of the plane.

This might give you an idea of the dimensions...

Manual, but very smoth with pulleys and shit. Other than the pulleys it was pretty much the same as the Otter doors you have at Perris (or most other skydive planes for that matter).

Apparently cost 30k and they were bitching about what they'd do to you if you broke it. I'd have built em two for that if they'd asked.

Maybe a powered door is an optional extra that we'll see on some planes and not others?

Sweet; glad to see it looks like they changed the cabin around a bit for skydiving. I was formerly of the mind that the only that was "made factory cool for skydiving" was the bolt-on stuff. Looks like a lot more sweat than I thought.

Sure, as long as it "fails safe". In a power-out emergency that also indicates immediately dumping the jumpers, there needs to be a way to get the door open. Maybe one of those garage door things where you pull the handle and it disconnects. ;)

The problem I see is when the weight and maintenance cost of the door "features" cost more than the benefit created by allowing a quicker descent for the next load.

I think it was on diverdriver.com that they pointed out the bulk of turnaround time improvement comes from efficiently flying up; flying down was the lesser part. An electric door isn't going to be weightless. (For that matter, I don't know what the pulley system weighs, either.)
