CanuckInUSA 0 #2 July 15, 2004 I'm a former owner of two Sabre2 canopies. You'll enjoy it. My only beef was the short recovery arc when swooping. But it's still a great canopy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Albatross 0 #3 July 15, 2004 I love mine. The glide is great, it is fun to fly, and they swwop well BUt they do open funny sometimesChris
CanuckInUSA 0 #4 July 15, 2004 QuoteO.K. you pick your date and I'll see its free Yes the openings can be unpredictable. But it's still not as squirelly as the openings on my Crossfire2. Unstable 9 #5 July 15, 2004 I bought a Brand new Sabre2 150 (about 1.3 WL) this February, And I've put about 100 jumps on it. I love it. The openings were a little funky at times, but they were never hard or scary, just a little *Curious*. It's a great canopy. Fun and easy to fly. Very forgiving. =========Shaun ==========

rjoseph14k 0 #8 July 15, 2004 I love mine when I'm flying it, but packing is a whole new story. A brand new ZP is a little tough to put into the bag but its starting to get easier with time. Dont roll the nose when packing. I did it a few times and I ended up with closed end cells. Other than that is gonna be an angle on your shoulder.....enjoy
darkwing 5 #9 July 15, 2004 Well if you have already bought it what's the point in our feedback? I liked the way my demo flew, but not the way it opened, so I bought a Pilot. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
PrairieDoug 0 #10 July 15, 2004 I've had a blast flying my Sabre2 170 @ 1.1WL. Like any new ZP canopy, the major challenge has been getting it in the bag. I'm a recent convert to psycho-packing, which has made that MUCH easier and had no adverse effect on openings. BTW, several folks have reported that the openings tend to settle down after the canopy has been jumped for a while.
mouth 0 #11 July 15, 2004 Mine refuses to open on heading but it opens soft so that is a plus. Have fun with it. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
pilotdave 0 #12 July 15, 2004 I have a Sabre2 135 loaded about the same as yours. Yep, like most people, I usually get a turn at the bottom end of the opening. Snivels nice and straight, then suddenly makes a quick turn. Usually 90 to 180 degrees, sometimes more or less. But it's usually not a big deal. Openings are soft, and I've only had linetwists a few times (in about 100 jumps on the canopy so far). But I'm perfectly willing to put up with imperfect openings because of how it lands. Gives nice landings even when I flare too high or too low. Just fly it right to the ground, flaring as much as necessary. Dave
gemini 0 #13 July 15, 2004 I've got about 800 jumps on a 150 loaded at1.4. As everyone else said, the openings are gentle, but can be erratic. It helps to fly the deployment. I've had several openings into line twist and had it spin itself into line twist several times as well, but nothing I couldn't easily get out of. Having an unstowed brake on opening was a different story...very exciting! Blue skies, Jim
pilotdave 0 #14 July 15, 2004 Mine's loaded a lot lighter than yours, but when I had an unstowed brake on opening it wasn't too bad. Started off like a normal opening, but went into a slow turn. I looked up to see if there was a closed endcell and quickly found myself in a diving spiral. Grabbed the brakes and came right out of it. No linetwists or anything. Seen some videos of high performance canopies spin right up because of a brake coming unstowed. Didn't do anything like that to me. Also when I've had linetwists, it's always flown straight. Kate1973 0 #15 July 15, 2004 i just got a new sabre2 as well....and i love it....the openings i get right now are....interesting....but i like to think, its always like a bit of surprise every time i pull......oh!!....what will it do next.....though, i must add, only got 10 jumps on it and my packing of a new zp canopy is far more likely to be the problems im having with my openings than to do with the canopy.......shes flies beautifull....and shes all mine!!!! WILDBILLAQR 0 #16 July 15, 2004 I have about 100 jumps on mine & I love flying it. Even with the 360 degree "on heading" opening I had last Sunday---------------------------------------------- "Thats not smoke, thats BUCKEYE!!" AQR#3,CWR#
Jskydiver22 0 #17 July 16, 2004 Mine is a 135, and i have a big 1 jump on it so i cant really compare or anything. But...on this 1 jump ive got on it, it did a 180 about the time it inflated. No big deal, the end cells did stay closed a little bit longer than i expected to. Did i mention that i love packing a new zero-p canopy? Its very fun to fly!!!! I had a spectre 150 before this and it was ok but i wanted to start getting into 9 cells, and i LOVE the landing that i had. Like i said, i only have 1 jump on it....so now im gonna go fix that. --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
pccoder 0 #18 July 16, 2004 I bought mine a few months ago and still am waiting on Sunpath to finish my Javelin Odyssey!!! Supposed to be done on July 27, so after that I really can't wait to use my new gear. All the info in this forum about the openings has been nice to hear, too bad my rigger who recommended this "all around" canopy to me never mentioned them. I've jumped a Spectre 170 for the last 70 jumps probably, so I do anticipate a much more fun ride. PcCoder.net
AirDive 0 #19 July 17, 2004 What did you do on your first skydive with your new Sabre2? Did you open any higher then usual?

Jskydiver22 0 #21 July 18, 2004 Well i put a few jumps on it now, and really the openings havent been a prob anymore. It did a 180 on abt 2 or 3....but most of the time they were great. You just gotta be ready on the toggels. most of the time, it comes out, 3 cells inflate, then immediately 5, then the 2 end cells slowly open....sounds like a sweet opening to me --I don't even know enough to know that I dont know--
