SkyJonesin 0 #51 June 25, 2004 I walked away about 9 years ago,but for an entirely different reason. When my daughter was born I decided that I could not put my wife in a position that required her to explain why I wasn't around anymore. I know it's unlikely that anything would have happened to me,and I truly loved skydiving, but for me it was just something I had to sacrifice. Please don't everyone jump all over me,I am certainly NOT implying that skydivers with kids don't care as much about them as I do. This was just a very personal decision on my part.If anyone has ever seen a friend or relative explain to a small child that their mom or dad "went away",it is the most gut-wrenching, overwhelming thing a parent would ever have to do.I'm sorry for being so morbid, but my point is only to tell [SSkydiver] DON'T QUIT just because of bad weather days. You will regret it.This is a very addictive sport and one that is very hard to give up. Although I don't regret my decision, not a sunny day goes by that I'm not thinking "I should be in the sky right now." For someone with only 105 jumps in their logbook I have a very hard time staying away from this sport. I know somewhere down the line I'll decide the time is right for me to climb into an airplane that has no tray tables or seats in an upright position. So stick it out [SSkydiver] no matter how few jumps you're making, you're still making them.Sometime in the future, when you have your D license, maybe I'll be joining you. PabloCruz2 0 #54 June 28, 2004 Hopefully this will encourage you to stick with it. It could be worse. I have been in the sport 4 years and only have 36 jumps. My last jumps (4 of them) was the first week of June in 2003. I share many of the same feelings you have, but I dream and pray for the day to come that all this changes. I would love to have your average number of jumps. Sometimes life doesn't allow all our wishes to come true immediately. Hang in there! Your day will come!! skymut 0 #55 June 29, 2004 Learn from someone who is 'out' currently, don't do it. Or at leastl, especially if you have gear hang on to it, take some time to think it over. My last jump was in the fall of '02 and I miss it sorely. Even my wife who didn't care for me skydiving wishes I would have held on to my stuff to go back one day. I thought I could not miss it, but that is not the case. If you are one of those folks that got the skydiving hooks in you on your first jump (I'm that person too), maybe take some time off, but don't quit. Quitting won't help. Matt A well-informed person is somebody who has the same views and opinions as yours.
