cloud_monkey 0 #51 May 9, 2004 Well, what do you know - a fellow shark bite victim. I tell everyone I was either attacked by a shark, bitten by a gator, or mauled by a bear - So far everyone's just said "Damn...did it hurt?" Duh... I just had X-rays taken a week ago and the Fib is pretty much solid but the Tib still has a little way to go. I'm just now starting to walk again so I have a pretty fair limp but it'll get better. Somone recommended that I not jump until I can jump up and down on that leg without too much pain and I think that sounds like a good plan. I've already had 3 surgeries on it and hopefully I won't have to have 27 more like yourself. At least it sounds like you're back an at'em. I hope it won't be too much longer until I can join the rest of ya in the sky again. Have a great one, Z
RkyMtnHigh 0 #52 May 10, 2004 QuoteYou probably won't get this untill you've jumped alreadyQuotehave an ankle stabilizer, and the swelling and bruising has gone down considerably. So.. can you run? Can you take an impact? I hear ya Timmae. On the first jump, the impact made me bite my lip. Thereafter, who knows perhaps it was adrenalin, but no pain. I just took the stabilizer off and no increased bruising or swelling. Whew _________________________________________
jumpingjoe 0 #53 May 10, 2004 Unfortunatly, I am a just wait till it looks good. I do to many sports and if I waited for my body to heal I would never be doing anything ever again.

You know, I'm realizing that the "mind over matter" concept is so real with skydiving or anything really..just depends how much you want to do something. _________________________________________
Breezejunky 0 #55 May 10, 2004 Do the old risk vs ....I don't know what it's called. I jumped 6 months after a shattered femur/broken pelvis thing that had me in the hospital for 7 weeks. I had very specific skydiving goals that meant enough to me that I decided to take my chances. If I had mangled myself, everyone (including myself, perhaps) would have said I was an idiot. I didn't, I achieved one of my goals and it was incredibly fulfilling. Would I have pushed myself just to horse around on weekends? No way. It wasn't worth the risk. It's so hard to sit on the ground but you really have to weigh the consequences.
Breezejunky 0 #56 May 10, 2004 Oh, never mind. I didn't read all the posts. I'm glad your jump went well!! :)
RkyMtnHigh 0 #57 May 28, 2004 F...F...F....F..re-F!!!! Dammit!!! my "sprain" is apparently a fracture! I was wondering why the heat & swelling didn't really go away! It doesn't really hurt, but it does swell when I'm on it for long periods of time..shit already... Stabilizer works for jumping purposes...but shit shit shit! _________________________________________
maestro 0 #58 May 28, 2004 I had a tooth out on a thursday then jumped on the Friday. It blew up and made a 'dry socket'. It hurt like hell and I had to have further surgery on it. Don't do it Kay x ps The reason why I jumped in the first place? I thought I was infallable and it's only air, right? Ah, no. The healing tooth socket had a teeny air bubble trapped in it from the extraction which expanded during the jump and then popped. Not nice!

The111 1 #60 May 30, 2004 I hurt my back pretty bad on a really hard reserve opening 2 months ago. My lower back was so tweaked it hurt REALLY BAD to bend over and get in and out of a chair. I didn't even consider jumping like that. It's not 100% better now, but I'd say it's 90%. I jumped last weekend with no problem. It may be weeks or months before this last little bit heals up, but basically I waited to get mostly back to normal, good enough that I can go to the gym, lift heavy weights, run, jump off of high things and land hard, etc... I'm pretty much myself again.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
