hawkflight 0 #1 January 27, 2004 Hi , I will be doing my second C jump this weekend.....and I had a couple questions.....I am going to be jumping with only one JM and was curious about the exit ....will the one JM be on my right side?........will the exit be much different with only one JM.......should be jumping out of King Air or maybe cessna....I have already jumped out of them both with 2 JM's what should I except to be different? thanks .........Tom............................... benny 0 #2 January 27, 2004 One JM will be main (right) side. not sure about the exits though because I've never done contact exits out of either of those planes. I did my first no contact from a cessna and the JM just basically sat in the plane while I climbed out (though he told me he would climb out with me if i wanted him to) and followed when I left. Sorry if that wasn't much help. Blues. Never go to a DZ strip show.
skyyhi 0 #3 January 27, 2004 Hey Tom. . .long time no talk. . . Anyway, I don't have a whole lot to contribute since I have only exited from an Otter. I would say that the JM would be on your right, but since the Elsinore fire I recently jumped a different type of gear which has a boc handle on the right and left so the JM can be on either side. For my first single JM exit, it was a front float exit with JM on right side. Don't know if that helps much. Good luck to you and remember to relax and BREATHE. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
Nightingale 0 #4 January 27, 2004 I'm trying to figure this out... I've seen the student rigs with the two handles on the BOC, but not up close. HTF can the reserve JM pull from his side, without pulling the pilot chute straight through the boc and causing a horseshoe? Its gotta be built differently, but I haven't been able to get close enough to one to see.
Luna 0 #5 January 27, 2004 Hey Tom! It's already been said. Your JM will be on your right side, and you will be "front float" on the outside of the airplane, if you get the King Air. If you get the Cessna, I'm not sure how it will go. I hope you get good weather for this weekend! You'll do great, don't worry! crutch 0 #6 January 27, 2004 Don't qoute me on this, but I have done many AFF jumps and this is how we do it. With one jumpmaster he is usaully your side that positions himself still in the plane. So, on the King Air it will be on the mainside and out of the cessna it will be on the reserve side.blue skies, art
labrys 0 #7 January 27, 2004 On the student rigs I wore there was a tab and zipper on the BOC pouch that the reserve side JM could grab to pretty much open up the entire pouch and to let the PC fly.Owned by Remi #?
crutch 0 #8 January 27, 2004 Depending on the design, but the one most following was developed I believe by Roger Nelson at Skydive Chicago. The pouch that the pilot chute is in actually comes apart with the handle on the reserve side. This enables either JM to pull someone with a BOC pilot chute.blue skies, art
freeryde13 0 #9 January 28, 2004 this is the jump i almost failed bro. my advice would be to arch alot. with one jump master my lack of arch was very noticable. i tumbled for a few thousand ft. for me it was getting into the rush of free fall and forgeting i had to arch. they told me to change my count to ....prop ..up ...down...aaaaaaaarch. and practice alot of arching on the ground. good luck man._________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance
Nightingale 0 #10 January 28, 2004 now THAT makes sense! Thanks. I was picturing a tube shaped BOC.
skyyhi 0 #11 January 28, 2004 Kris. . .it is "different" and Lob made me do about 3 practice pulls before I went up with the rig. The slit for the handles is on the bottom, it is the entire length of the boc pouch. . .there is a stiff piece of fabric on the p/c that holds it in the pouch. . .it actually works quite well. I was doing flips and nothing dislodged. Edited to add: oops, I see you got your answer.________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
sducoach 0 #12 January 28, 2004 It depends entirely on your instructor and the equipment you are using. Call your instructor or the DZ for confirmation. Blues, J.E.James 4:
nightjumps 1 #13 January 28, 2004 The reserve side JM's handle not only pulls the P/C, but releases a "piano hinge" which opens the entire BOC. http://www.altico.com/ambidex.html
