Recommended Posts

When u are in freefall and out of control .......say flipping all over the place............could someone explain what this feels like .........does it feel anything like a roller coaster...........

Just curious as to what i have to look forward to when i start AFF and have to leave the plane
un-stable and regain stability........

Thanks for any info

Not like a rollercoaster! Good thing because I don't like rollercoasters.:o
Flips are fun! Have you completed AFF? If so, flips and body control are part of it and you should know what it feels like by now...:S

That's what i was hoping..........I can't ride roller coaster's at all......

Haven't started AFF yet.....July long weekend is the plan to do first jump as an AFF student....

Last summer i took the first jump course for static line type jumps....

I did 8 jumps but didn't feel comfortable at it....
The skydiving club was from out of town....came to town for 3 days to make a bunch of money on 1st timers..........well the first time they came i got 5 jumps in then they came back 2 or so months later and i did another 3.........not enough time doing it like that.....especially since they aren't from town...

Thanks for the info..........

Don't worry about it! It is certainly, as far as I am concerned, the best AFF jump. Nothing like a roller coaster, as there is nothing counteracting that little thing called gravity...

Have fun up there. I can't help it myself...

Cheers,

Nick

I tried 20 years ago via static line and never was comfortable with it. Finally did a tandem jump a few weeks ago. Unpoised exit (kinda rolled out of an Otter on our hands and knees) 3 flips, arch, drogue out- the first thing that entered my mind was how much fun I have missed over the years. No roller coaster stomach drop-oh my god I'm falling sensation. Just pure unadulterated, ethereal pleasure. Nothing to be afraid of my friend. Now I understand the skies call. Now if this shit east coast weather would cooperate alittle I plan on spending alot of time learning as much as I can-because there is nothing that can compare to it . Best of luck.

for me, no part of skydiving feels like the roller coaster/i'm gonna toss my cookies sensation....

being out of control is more like a dizzy spell to me, or like riding those freaking circular tea-cups @ Disneyland.... its disequilibrium and makes me sick to my stomach :)

then again, INTENTIONAL flips (i.e. backloops, barrel rolls) are usually less terrifying & that's how i learned to sit fly.... BEST OF LUCK!

If an AFF jumpmaster is with you it feels like heavy awful shame. If two AFF jumpmasters are with you it feels like shame but probably only a fraction of the shame they are feeling.
If you are off student status it is completely legal and so much fun. Kinda like chocolate or ice cream for retards. I do it sometimes when noone is looking.

As a RAPS student in the UK I was pretty unstable - falling in every axis other than belly to earth - for most of my early freefalls :$ which I absolutely hated for obvious safety reasons... but when I finally did my unstable exit jump I loved it!! Even now after 100 jumps, that first 'proper' unstable exit stays in my top 5 jumps of all time... along with a hybrid for my 100th and a spinny 1st attempt at a sit!!

You will LOVE it and it feels sooo good, I just remember going so fast and then flaring out and feeling myself slow down... more 'hearing' myself slow if that makes any sense :S

Ah those were the days... B|
