diablopilot 2 #27 May 3, 2004 QuoteHuh? Distance is distance. What does it do, -stretch- in the air? Accutaly it's not that simple. When a A/C is parked on the ground it can be in a MUCH different attitude than it would be for level flight or a jump run (slightly nose low and decending). As an extreme example, look at tail draggers. A Porter's horizontal stapilizer is very low when on the ground, but when flying it's not an issue.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. WFFC 1 #28 May 3, 2004 QuoteA T tail is a "Yaw" bitch with a load full of whiney American skydivers who would then complain about "turbulence" on the way to height. Having worked manifest at a DZ, ALL skydivers, including the foreign ones are whiney. Just wanted to clarify your response... The foreign jumpers just whine with an accent...----- ~~~Michael
chuckbrown 0 #29 May 3, 2004 Quote Us jumpers in smaller countries can't have King airs and Otters at every dz. I hate to change your impression of the Land of Plenty mate, but the overwhelming majority of US dzs fly 182s. The 182 IS the backbone of the US skydiving industry. Learned at a very small 182 DZ. First 200 jumps were out of that wonderful Cessna. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Just remembering Raoul and his BIG smack with a Caravan's tail on exit. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ockers 0 #32 May 4, 2004 It was certainly quick to height but couldn't put a time on it. Could have been as little as 12 mins. Definitely superior to 182's but we are spoilt with the skyvan!!

I just like to have the horizontal stabilizer as far away from my noggin as stability allows. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

BenGriffiths 0 #35 May 4, 2004 I belive Cark (in the UK) is getting one soon. The main thing I don't like about the 750 is the apparently low tailwing. Not only coulkd a dodgy exit lead to problems but if the pilot didn't have it in the correct orientation for exit, very possible on a low altitude emergancy exit, it seems like colossions are a distinct posibbility.---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
WeakMindedFool 0 #36 May 4, 2004 They say it will be...in level flight it will have more clearance then a Caravan. I for one can't wait to jump it. They say it was designed to do nothing but climb FAST, and drop people out of it!Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves. -Eric Hoffer - Check out these Videos

Stats: PAC 750XL : DISTANCE CARGO DOOR TO HORIZONTAL STABILISER: 121.75" (309.24cm) Anyone have that stat for the Caravan?
