Help getting back in the air

Recommended Posts

Hi;

I started AFF 2 years ago and progressed through level 7 in 7 jumps. Then shit happened.

I hurt my shoulder and had to take a few months off. Just as it was getting better I got diagnosed with colorectal cancer. I've spent most of a year beating the crap out of this beast and it appears I won !! (It ain't easy).

Now I'm busy getting back in shape and evry sunny day I stare at the sky. I can't wait to resume where I left off.

What shouls I expect. To go back to Level ! and start over or at least start somewhere in the middle. I have videos that show good stable exits and managed to log 30 minutes of tunnel time during my recovery period.

Any advice is mucho appreciated.

First, I would like to congratulate you on all that you have overcome. To battle illness, win, and then come back to the sport that you love, it something we all can admire.

As for what you can expect, if the finances are there, I would simply start over. It would assure you a safe and confident return to the sport and at the very least, set you back a little bit of cash. However, we have all learned that skydiving is a sport where taking time and being safe is the only way to survive.

Good luck with all that you do! Keep us posted on your success with it.
Sincerely,

I pretty much agree.

FIRST with the congrats!!!! WOW, after what you have been through, you can do Anything!!!

Second.. If you can start over, do... You "Flew" through 7 levels in 7 jumps.... you can do that again, Im sure.

If you are jumping at the same DZ.. maybe after one or two jumps they will see you are able to "skip" some of the progression. Sort of fine tune the program to you and your ability.

WELCOME back to LIFE and back to the Sky!!!

I had almost the same situation....made it through level 7 then 2 solos then I took about 2 years off. When I came back my DZ gave me a quick ground school refresher then doubled up my AFF levels. AFF1/2 on one jump AFF3/4 on the second and AFF6/7 on the third. After that I was right back to where I was and getting coached jumps. Just talk to the DZ and they should be able to set you up properly...and save you money.
