firstime 0 #26 March 18, 2004 we were all getting up just prior to jump run, I was in front of a tandem, the TM behind me tells his student to get up and just when he pulled him tight The guy looked back at TM and said"WHOA you have boldly gone where no man has gone before" Well I had to get out and laughed all the way to pull time. I am still LMAO
slotperfect 7 #27 March 18, 2004 I have had many great moments experiencing students' reactions . . . The most famous: "Thanks so much for this . . . I will remember this for the rest of my life!" The most infamous: "F*#@!" (Just before some under canopy projectile vomiting - she felt it coming!)Arrive Safely John
Decibel 0 #28 March 20, 2004 Not trying to hijack the thread, but you do 18k tandems? I've just never heard of that.

Erroll 80 #30 March 23, 2004 Quotewell, looks like this forum got back on the funny note. Yeah. In the context of the way the thread developed, I couldn't help but notice some (unintended) puns: we were all getting up it was the jump that caused the reaction. one that we struggle with all the time. you can just slip it on under ya jumpsuit but it's still a touchy subject just feel it's no biggie and act accordingly. mfrese 0 #31 March 23, 2004 Yep. Adventure Center Skydiving Inc. (AKA Hollister) has been doing 18K tandems for years. I think the only other DZ doing 18K tandems is Space Center in Titusville Florida...which is now owned by Greg and Patti Nardi, the former owners of Hollister. Surprise, surprise. The DZ does pretty good business with these, mostly with first-timers who simply want the most "extreme" jump, and with repeat students who can actually appreciate the additional freefall time. For the TMs and video guys, it's kind of a pain...we kinda run out of moves after about 8 or 9K! Exit shot, get a close-up of the student, pop up for the drogue shot, do some turns, carve back in to get another student close-up, student slaps you a high five, check the alti as is should be close to pull time, and it's...10 GRAND! Sheesh...what now? Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
Sebazz1 2 #32 March 31, 2004 This is absolutely true... I think you may have even been her tandem master Mike. Anyway on the way to altitude my AFF student and I are near the door talking abou twhatever and this tandem student sbehind asks very politely ... "why are you all wearing bag packs?" I responded very cool and said "our parachutes are in the..." "ohhh" she replied I could see many folks in the plane just itching to say something but we all abstained silly silly....
