Idea's!??!

Recommended Posts

Hiya guys!!!!

I was hoping that someone out there could give me a helpful idea, and maybe some encouragment. [:/]

I am at a bit of a dead end...
I really want to do the AFF program, but dont have any idea on how to raise that kind of money!!!

Do any of you wish to share how you managed to raise that money, and perhaps try to encourage me... I'm beginning to lose faith, lol.

Most of you will say: "Get off your rear end and get a job..." But.... I'm still in school, and wont be finishing till the end of the year. I am, however, homeschooled, so any ideas outside of a full time job would be more than welcome!

Thanks a heap guys!

God bless,
Melanie

There are these wonderful things called student loans. Gotta love them.........;)

Plus I got lucky cuz my mom won a lawsuit and she gave me 1000 dollars to spend on anything I wanted. Now after I do aff I have no idea how I'm going to pay for the rest of it. Only time will tell.......
I'm so funny I crack my head open!

Well, all I can add is look for a part time job. When I started in skydiving, I picked up a part time job on the side. For over three years I worked a part time job in the evenings to pay for skydiving and the related toys of this sport. I really did not like having two jobs nor did my wife but it allowed me to skydive and be able to afford the normal things people have. Currently I have quit the second job and now do tandems to pay for skydiving.
I am a firm believer of where there is a will there is a way ( it probably is not going to be an easy way but there is a way)
Oh, one last thing when looking at AFF course the best way to get through it would be to save up all the money (including a couple level retakes) prior to doing any AFF. Muscle memory retention works best if you can condense it over a shorter time frame such as jumping every week verses jumping once a month to make it through AFF.

I'm a full-time student also, but I have taken breaks from school to do internships and work studies where I get paid to do work associated with my major. Maybe your field has something similar. If not, the end of the year will be here before you know it. Congrats on finishing.

I did a static line program. It took more jumps, I learned slower then the average AFF student I see now, but the jumps themselves were cheaper. In the longer run I've spent much more money then I would have in AFF, but its what I could do so it worked for me.

Many high schoolers work part-time jobs and are still able to get good grades. It's all about time management. Take the initiative...talk to your parents about getting a job, figure out how many hours you need to work to afford AFF and a rig, and then tell them your plan to get your school work, family responsibilites and job done. Agree that if you fall behind on your studies or family obligations, the job (and your dream of skydiving right now) will be the first thing to go. You want to skydive, it's your responsibility to earn the money to make it happen.

I hear ya on how expensive it is but outside of selling ur organs and everything u own, u will need some type of income part time job will do. I believe u have 30 days between jumps b4 u have to do a refresher granted it will take longer but you have that time to save $$, sacrifice on things that u normally spend money that u can do without. Remember it gets cheaper once u have your gear and finish AFF.

your a student they give out credit cards like candy to you folks. get one with a huge limit go threw aff, buy all new gear and a block of jump tickets..... then let it got to collections and file bankruptcy. your young its only on your record for 7 years. ..................
or do what i did put it on the back burner till you can afford it. if skydiving is truly in your heart it wont leave you it cant cuz its part of you. i did a tandem in 1990. always knowing i would return to the sky. 2002 went through the student program in 3 weeks and did 600plus jumps since.

There is no law saying you can't have a job and go to school at the same time. It's how I paid for both school and skydiving. Full time job + full time school isn't a bad combination for college and yes you can have a social life and skydive too if you manage your time and pay attention in class.

(Since you said home school, I have to think you are in high school or a trolling kid - if so, wait till you are out of the house).

I'm hoping the bankruptcy advice was just kidding. That's a terrible thing to do.
