RkyMtnHigh 0 #26 February 4, 2004 Passed L1 and L2 no problem. Out of a King Air for L1 and an Otter for L2. However, needed to repeat L3 twice because I was nervous jumping from the C-182. Went to Eloy and passed L3, no problem because I was jumping from an Otter (my comfort zone). L4, repeated once. L5 repeated once, then something clicked and I figured out how to relax and breathe. Then L6 and L7 was night and day from the rest of my AFF levels. As my parents said "I really like my independence" and on the last two levels, I was on my own. My 4 solos the weekend after Eloy went really well..time to experiment and play. _________________________________________

kelel01 1 #28 February 4, 2004 QuoteLook, its not a failure, its just an opportunity to truely learn a skill that is important, something that you will be building on as you continue as a skydiver. Can I just say that AggieDave is the sweetest thing (and I know at least one skychick who would agree with me)? I made a very similar post to freeryde's when I failed my check out dive. (Sonuvabitch!) And he said basically the same thing he said to you . . . It really helped me, and I appreciated that more than he knows. But now I'm off student status, and I know that not passing a level on AFF is no indication of what kind of skydiver you will make . . . I'm sure that your instructors could tell you some stories about their student progression as well! Kelly
freeryde13 0 #29 February 5, 2004 tonto...whst dz do you work at? ...thats the way it should be. i asked this question out of couriusity only. 7 for 7 but almost failed 3. when they let me go i felt like a little boy looking for my mother to hold me. after that i had a real hard time riding the hill down. i was definately blessed with great jump masters and coachs who anwered every question i had and got me ready on the ground . they made sure i didn't fail despite myself. i always feel that a jump master is like a phycitrist, cause they relly have to get in your head and know you. they have to now if you need reasurance, a push, or more training. i take my hat off to these people for teaching me how to fly. all i can do to pay them back is to try and give that same gift to the next up and comer when i can. ......i hope that i can progress and become a jump master one day. ...love you all and see you in the sky some where some time....peace._________________________________________ people see me as a challenge to their balance

I'm so with you here man, jump masters kick ass! I can't think of a cooler group of people. And the shrink thing is right on, they sure know how to build confidence if anything. Never go to a DZ strip show.

It's just something I do if I see the student is keen, short of money or simply needs more time to settle into their new environment. tIt's the year of the Pig. sunnydee123 0 #32 February 5, 2004 Had to do a relax dive between level 3 and 4 cause I had a little "natural spin" going on (joked that ne boob was bigger then the other causing it)....had a rainy weekend, snuck away to the tunnel to practice, ended up some competition was going on and EVERYONE from my DZ was there but it still was a tremendous help!! Almost failed Level 5 just for geeking the camera ( shame on me) at pull time but I got a slap on the hand and was told "don't let it happen again". I can't believe it's been almost a year since I started AFF (2/14/03) and have nearly 400 jumps! Gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... RainbowSmurf 0 #33 February 6, 2004 Quote To include something in the answer, let us know if you did a tandem before you started AFF. Im wondering if that helps anyone. Did tandem but didn't help. Still repeated nearly all of them at least once!
