AirMail 0 #1 November 22, 2002 What altitude does the helicopter at Cross Keys get for jumping?-- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Postal Rodriguez, Muff 3342
pilotdave 0 #2 November 22, 2002 I don't know but I can answer a different question. The minimum requirement to jump it is an A license and around 70 jumps, in case anyone else was curious. Now all I need is some good weather! Dave
CrazyIvan 0 #3 November 22, 2002 In my area, choppers go as high as 13,500 Ft., I've seen some of my instructors jumping out of them.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.

billvon 2,991 #5 November 22, 2002 Most helicopters I've been on (Perris, Brown, WFFC, etc) have gone to 5000-7000 feet.
bigjim 0 #6 November 22, 2002 I jumped that helicopter at the Keys Boogie a few weeks ago. It was giving 4500 feet then a jump from a near hover. Get one if you can!
Scoby 0 #7 November 22, 2002 QuoteThe minimum requirement to jump it is an A license and around 70 jumps, in case anyone else was curious. 70 jumps? I'm likely to have 60 jumps or so by the time I go home to visit my parents (near XK) at christmas. Is that a hard and fast rule or would they make an exception? I guess I should email them... PhillyKev 0 #9 November 22, 2002 This one is $25, $20 if you get there for early bird whirley bird jumps.
jjrainyday 0 #10 January 25, 2004 70 jumps is certainly not a hard-and-fast rule, especially at Cross Keys. You just need to check with John (or whoever is flying that day).
alcarterra 0 #11 January 26, 2004 We usually get around 4500 feet with the helicopter at X-Keys (that's for the normal ticket price...as phillykev said, $25). It's tons of fun, so jump it if you can alyson team swooo swooo #
FFAdventures 0 #12 January 27, 2004 Chopper jumps are open to anyone who is off student status, and is a competent jumper. That's it! That includes just about everybody who wants to jump the scream machine. And remember to bring video. Hanging off the struts looks so cool on exit!Where the world comes to skydive! skydvrz 0 #13 January 28, 2004 Don't know about Cross Keys, but at Perris it was 5K for $50. Eeek! Expensive, but worth it. Riding up to altitude while sitting in the door with your feet on the skids is a rush when the pilot is hotdogging it. You get punished by the downdraft from the main rotor though. Wack wack wack on top of your helmet - keep your head inside the door on takeoff ---------------------- I'll think of a really cool and witty signature later. SkymonkeyONE 4 #14 January 28, 2004 everything at Perris is expensive.
kris12 0 #15 January 28, 2004 The Helicopter at Cross Keys is $25 to about 4.5-5 grand. That's the normal price and same price for observer rides. It totally rocks!! kristen swooo #3 MB #3587 P.M.S. #66 "so let go, jump in...what're you waiting for? it's all right 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown"
