StevePhelps 0 #1 January 15, 2004 Just got my new jump suit -- made by Parachi Designs (info can be found on www.skydiveairtight.com) I'm a fast faller so she made me a suit I can use for RW and also for FF. I used it today and sat nicely, and the gills helped me get head down and hold stable as well. She charges between $225 - 275 for it all. A LOT cheaper than others and the turn around is days, not months! It has ... gills rw grips reinforced knees reinforced butt cargo pocket inside pocket embroidered with name and D license # swoop cords I picked out the fabric and made the design What do you think?
 Kris 0 #20 January 15, 2004 That is a seriously nice suit, Steve. I'm not sure how I feel about gills though, even at my size. My last suit had them and I couldn't track for crap in it. I always thought I just sucked at it and kept refining with each jump. Also, I would look between my legs while tracking and notice the gills inflated. Maybe it's just how they're cut on my old suit though. On my new Kurupee (no gills) however, my track has been amazing. Before, I was wallowing around 125 mph in a track. I'm averaging 95-105mph and can actually see the ground rolling beneath me now. My sit and HD speeds have stayed pretty consistent with the new suit as well, even though it's more form-fitting. My sit clocks in around 140-ish and my HD is around 170-185, but I'm still a very green newbie at HD. For grins, I may just tape up the gills on my old Gotcha Covered suit and see how much of a difference it makes.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
 StevePhelps 0 #21 January 15, 2004 Need it to slow down for RW (and FF for that matter)
 StevePhelps 0 #22 January 15, 2004 QuoteI'm not sure how I feel about gills though, even at my size. Yeah, Kris, they suck at tracking. But, I can always sew them up later, no problem. You need to come jump with me at Skiatook for old time's sake.
 dgskydive 0 #23 January 16, 2004 Nice suit. Even with the grippers I wouldn't use it for RW though. All that drag is gonna make you really have to work at staying down. I am over 6 FT and 200 lbs as well. Some nice swoop cords in a more traditional suit IMHO would be better. If you get the right material and options it will probably work better then what ya got. Make those light wieghts put on some lead! Not trying to knock your suit. It looks like it will be great for freeflying and I like the pattern on it. Just a little more help from a dealer and you could have gotten a Rw suit that would have worked. I wish your friend the best of luck in selling her suits! She might be a little better off getting people what they really need as opposed to selling what she has. We had the same problem with one of our employees before as well. She thought she could put people in the same type of situation with there suits. Big baggy free fly suits with grippers aren't the answer. All it did was piss people off when they figured out that it didn't work well in the long run. They couldn't stay down with the RW formations at all. I hope that doesn't happen to you.Dom
 StevePhelps 0 #24 January 16, 2004 Truth is I have made several RW jumps with it -- no problems. I had more traditional RW suits that "fit" and I always sunk out. Yeah, I know, learn to fly better -- shouldn't we all. Right now it is a great suit for RW and some FFing. I have 2 other suits I can use for FFing.
