lemonjelly 0 #1 January 11, 2004 I've done a couple of S/L jumps and have been recommended to do 'dummy pull' on next jump. My previous exits, canopy control and landing have been very good. As I live in Scotland and the weather is S**te at the moment, I was thinkin of getting on a cheap flight to Spain or the like to do this. My question is 1. Can I do this? 2. can someone recommend a good (Spanish or otherwise)DZ where the weather is good at present? 3. Once I have pulled 'for real' (no S/L) can I then jump from DZ's that do AFF but no S/L Hope they're not stupid questions but I am very new to the sport. Your replies will be much appreciated************************************************* RED LIGHTS & OFF LANDINGS ARE JUST MY THANG http://www.redlightrob.co.uk
Nightingale 0 #2 January 11, 2004 well, I think if you go to an AFF only dropzone and are still a student, you'd need to switch over to AFF.
jas8472 0 #3 January 11, 2004 From the BPA op's manual: (once you reach CAT5 you can move to AFF level 3, if you want to do AFF now you would need to start from the beginning). Read 5&6 in atachment RAPS & AFF Op's manual downloadable from BPA web site.
gremlin 0 #4 January 11, 2004 Only prob is that the weather in Spain can be equally unpleasant at this time of year and having paid for flights, accommodation, car hire etc it can be very annoying. At the back of the mag are details of foreign BPA associated DZs. Ask around about them and give them an e-mail. Best of luck. ADAMI'm drunk, you're drunk, lets go back to mine.... thermosnight 0 #5 January 12, 2004 Hi LemmonJelly, If you consider doing AFF in Spain or elsewhere but do not finish it (e.g. problems with the weather), will your 'home' dz in the U.K. help you to complete the course? Also, could you afford the extra expense? Alternatively (and I know this is going to sound a bit strange), you could always wait a few months until the weather improves. No, I didn't like that idea, either. Forget I ever mentioned it. Dave.My favourite saying is under construction...
lazyfrog 0 #6 January 12, 2004 skydive-lillo close to madrid empuriabrava you can get cheap flights to go there but send them a mail to see how you can do for your progression. In EB I don't think they have S/L, never seen any.---------- Fumer tue, péter pue ------------- ourson #10, Mosquito Uno, CBT

lolliUK 0 #8 January 12, 2004 Try skydive spain who are out in Seville (south spain so slightly better weather), im going out there mid feb to do my AFF - I got BA flights through Opodo for £125. Here is the address: http://www.skydivespain.com I dont know about S/L but email them, v friendly and can book your hotel for you too if your Spanish isnt too hot! I would double check with your home DZ about returning to S/L or completing AFF.
riggerrob 643 #9 January 12, 2004 The secret is completing AFF, a dozen consolidation dives and your A license - all while on vacation. That will allow you to tell local skygods to "sod off" when they try dragging you back to the begining when you return home. BPA is notorious for that sort of childish head game. The bottom line is that you need a couple dozen jumps before anyone trusts you to take care of yourself in the air. Far easier and cheaper to do those two dozen jumps during one holiday.
