I was working the risers to change the attitude and it was helping...we share the same 'hard deck' I did pretty much what you described while dealing with the jumpers...and I agree they were looking for a spotlight. They continued their banter even after 3 polite tries to suggest a more private venue for further discussion. I even tried humor... "Come on guys..I'm workin' here... I don't come to YOUR job and hide your mop!" I finally shut the loudest one up when I asked how many jumps he has... Then used my old stand-by... I wouldn't even have thought there were any issues with the jump until my little harassment situation... As I said above...just looking for some spotlight, like you said, wanted everyone to know they jump too. It's a question that can't really be answered in specific terms since a multitude of variables are involved. Costs such as pilot, aircraft, ground crew support, insurance, travel and housing expenses for the performers, difficulty of performing the event, expendables such as smoke and promotional / autograph literature, etc., all factor into the price tag for a given demonstration jump. And as it is quite often a competitive bidding process...to get a contract, adjustments must be made. "Labor" is the first consideration. I have sold demos costing from 1000.00 to 12,000.00 dollars, and have been paid personally anywhere from 100.00 to 500.00 dollars per jump.
