pchapman 279 #2 December 22, 2003 Regarding Canadians wanting to jump in the USA: I've used CAA. But be careful: In the last year or two I've seen a brochure that excludes skydiving, but when I phoned and asked them about it, they said skydiving is OK, and faxed me a different version of their exclusions! I've also used www.travelunderwriters.com 1800 663-5389 For me the price was better for a longer trip, but for very short trips their minimum charge is higher than CAA. Their insurance features may be poorer than that of the CAA, but I'm not sure on that point. February 2003 info from the CSPA chat list: Others wrote that companies that cover jumping include: -- RBC (aka Voyager) -- TIC -- Belair Direct -- IMG Patriot (thru Worldtravelcenter.com) -- Skydiving OK if purchase optional rider -- Blue Cross now covers recreational skydiving again Never tried these, so they're just leads to check. BUT, might some companies not offer services for Quebec residences? (Because they don't have a full bilingual setup?) Insurance is one of those things that differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. purplened 0 #4 December 22, 2003 Hi I am a skydiver, and a full time Travel Agent, who sells out of country medical insurance on a regular basis. RBC/Voyageur and T.I.C. DO cover skydiving. I"m not sure who told you RBC does not, but as of about a year ago, they decided to compete with TIC more, and do now. T.I.C. also covers rock climbing, where RBC does not (just incase). If you have questions still you can private email me if you like. Ned - P.S. See you in Eloy - we go on the 24th!I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter. Remster 30 #5 December 22, 2003 QuoteI"m not sure who told you RBC does not The RBC people I had on the phone. Thrice (I just called again based on your feedback so maybe its a new development). They read the paragraph and it was the standard, loosely quoted by me "profesional scuba, or any mororized sport, bla bla bla, parachuting, bla bla bla." They said that though Voyager is a package only available through agents like you, the medical part would be the same as their stand alone medical plan Travel Health Protector. If its their mistake, well, they dont deserve my business. But I'd be carefull that their lines of communication havent been mixed up... thats always bad news for the poor guy at the end with a booboo. See you there Ned!Remster
