bshl 0 #1 December 12, 2003 Just curious as to who likes what. If you go for the last one, what's your favorite and why? Blue skies and happy landings!
PhreeZone 20 #2 December 12, 2003 Casa. Nice and roomy, large tailgate, plenty of room to strech out plus it holds 30 of my best friends each load. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Brisco 0 #3 December 12, 2003 I'm with PhreeZone - the CASA!! Those tailgate exits are just plain FUN! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
cvfd1399 0 #4 December 12, 2003 Well since i only jumped once I will have to say Otter since it broke my "skydiving cherry"
AggieDave 6 #5 December 12, 2003 Dude, you left off a LOT of jump aircraft. I'm really really enjoying the Beech 99 that's at my DZ. Its comfy, big, bigger door then a S. Otter.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
FunBobby 0 #6 December 12, 2003 Skyvans, Casas, or even a C130. Anything with a large tailgate ..... fuuuuunnnnn! FunBobby
bshl 0 #7 December 12, 2003 QuoteDude, you left off a LOT of jump aircraft. I'm really really enjoying the Beech 99 that's at my DZ. Its comfy, big, bigger door then a S. Otter. Yeah. There were only five boxes for the poll so I tried to pick the four I normally see/hear about with a wildcard for the fifth. Cheers! Blue skies and happy landings! DJL 235 #8 December 12, 2003 You can put in over 100 selections for a poll. Just hit poll selections. Casa here."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
PhillyKev 0 #9 December 12, 2003 I'll take skyvans over casas. Climb a lot faster.
PhreeZone 20 #10 December 12, 2003 >Climb a lot faster. It was taking us 16 minutes to get to 13.5 all summer in the CASA at home and it took 14 minutes to get to altitude in the SDA Skyvan at WFFC. 2 minute difference is worth it to me. Plus there is no Door drama in a Casa that you can get in a Skyvan with people that don't know how to operate the door. ccowden 0 #12 December 12, 2003 I think as far as an all-around nice jump plane goes- You can't beat an Otter.
Nightingale 0 #13 December 12, 2003 I love the sky van... I like doing one of those "just run out the back of the plane" exits. I also like a floating exit on the otter.
mr2mk1g 10 #14 December 12, 2003 Skyvan is great fun, and I just love hanging off the tail. But I still have to go with the Turbolet 410 as my favorite.
diablopilot 2 #15 December 12, 2003 QuoteI'm really really enjoying the Beech 99 that's at my DZ. Its comfy, big, bigger door then a S. Otter. Might be a tad wider, but not taller, and besides the A/C is a heck of a lot less stable! Hope you've got a good pilot, and are not hanging a big chunk out the door.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. Caseadilla 0 #16 December 12, 2003 Cessna 182. The smaller cabin makes your farts smell ten times worse than any other aircraft.
AggieDave 6 #17 December 12, 2003 QuoteMight be a tad wider, but not taller, and besides the A/C is a heck of a lot less stable! Hope you've got a good pilot, and are not hanging a big chunk out the door. Its actually an inch taller and 3in wider. 6 people can fit in the door. Head room in the plane isn't as good as an Otter, its MUCH better then a King Air, though. The door is hella better then a King Air. Have you ever jumped a Beech 99?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
diablopilot 2 #18 December 13, 2003 QuoteHave you ever jumped a Beech 99? Yep. Lodi's Still like me a Caravan, or Otter better. Especialy in the hands of a new(er) pilot. Can't say I'd want to put 7 or 8 outside on a 99. Done it on a Caravan, and Otter. I guess it's all about what you like, and what you've gotten used to. I like the Door of an Otter better than Caravan, but when it comes to tandems, I like the benches in a Caravan FAR better than the benches in an Otter, or the (shudder) floor. The 99 out here has the same sort of benches as the Caravans at my old DZ.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. Unstable 9 #23 December 13, 2003 Dude ---- Two Words: CA-SUH!!!! Nice & roomy, Giant Tailgate, and I don't have to look like an ass trying to open the damn door. BTW, you forgot to put 182 on the poll....... Edited to add: I might Vote Skyvan, but there was a nasty little incident on my first skyvan jump over in Rantoul where I discovered that sitting in the very back meant that you had to help with the door. Well, this WAS my first box jump.... Kinda made an ass out of myself wrestling with the door. I think it made it to the big screen that night at the party tent. =========Shaun ==========

bclark 0 #25 December 13, 2003 I noticed all of the jump planes in the poll were turbines. My FAVORITE jump planes are DC-3's and Beech 18's. Yes I know they are slow and often scary to fly in, but they have more personality than most people I know.
