billvon 3,073 #1 December 8, 2003 Thanks to everyone who stopped by Christian's fundraiser this Saturday. We had a day of skydiving at Otay, capped off by a sunset 12-way that got us some awesome video (which, of course, is the point) and then started the party. People came down from as far north as LA, and visitors included such dignitaries as Molly, receiver of the proceeds of the _last_ benefit, and Scott Smith, our illustrious regional director. Activities included: $2 Skydiver Blondes, all money going to Christian The Boobie Prize raffle, in which people bought raffles to win cheap crap (like four half-empty bottles of chili sauce) and were entered to win the grand prize, a four-way flash by Molly, Judy, Amy and Barb. As it turned out Keith won, so instead it was Dave, George and I who flashed him - much to the disappointment of many of the guys there. The Buffet Dinner, in which people tossed in varying amounts of money for chili, burgers, potato salad etc. All in all we raised a little over $1000 for Christian. In the immortal words of Judy, the queen of the Gypsies, "I love us."* And if you missed out, it's not too late! Beer is still available for $25 a case, and that's genuine Skydiver Blonde from the only beer in Montana brewed on an airport. Or if you just want to contribute a few bucks, go to PayPal and contribute money to my account (the username is billvon, plus my domain name, which is @qualcomm.com.) Make sure you put "christian" in the subject line. (* = it should be noted that there is some dispute over who the true Queen of the Gypsies is; Barb and Keith have also at times laid claim to that title. Keith 0 #4 December 9, 2003 I have to say I'm very proud to call this group of people my friends. As usual, we pulled together to help out a fellow skydiver in grand fashion. Towards the end of the evening when it was announced we were $250 shy of our goal of $1000 people came out of the wood-works tossing 10s and 20s into the pot. In less than 15 minutes we met our goal. There is, by order of the Gypsy King, a definite distinction between being the "Queen of the Gypsies" and being the "Gypsy 'Queen'." lest people wonder the bedroom habits of said Gypsy King. I am therefore dubbed the Gypsy "Queen" not to be confused with the Queen of the Gypsies And as previously mentioned, go out and get on those $25 loads this Saturday.
