quade 4 #4 November 21, 2003 I haven't been out there since last Saturday (so I guess I'm not really up-to-date), but it's definately coming along. Shouldn't be too much longer. No hard dates yet. The second I get hard dates, I'll let you (and the rest of the planet) know.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Nightingale 0 #5 November 21, 2003 from the wind tunnel FAQ Q When with the wind tunnel be open for business? A We believe that the City of Perris, who has been very cooperative and supportive throughout this project, will issue a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy before the end of November. This means we should be able to open for business at that time. Visit our website often for up-to-date information.
ltdiver 3 #6 November 21, 2003 It was REALLY cool driving by the DZ last tuesday night. The wind tunnel was all lit up like a christmas tree with it's stairway and tunnel lights all aglow. Wish I had brought my camera along!! It made me stop and drink it all in before heading to my destination... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
BikerBabe 0 #7 November 21, 2003 I've been told, but I've also been asked not to tell, since it still could be pushed back. Suffice it to say, it should be EXTREMELY soon.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
arlo 0 #8 November 21, 2003 if i'm not mistaken, joe and carlos from SV orlando are going out there this weekend to do some follow-up trng with the new instructors at SV perris. that info was from tuesday, so it may have changed. FYI: for them to do the trng, the tunnel must be operational.

ltdiver 3 #10 November 22, 2003 Just tonight. From Perris DZ events coordinator, Scott Smith: Quote"And speaking of the Perris SkyVenture. Wow are we getting close! How close you ask? Close. Alan Metni and company from SkyVenture are on there way out from Floridato work on the "commissioning" of the tunnel. They already started and yesterday tested power to all the motors and everything worked perfect. To quote Jill Scheidel, the tunnel's General Manager, "that's Huge." After commissioning we go back to the City to get our occupancy permit and will be flying in the tunnel..." billvon 2,991 #11 November 24, 2003 I am happy to announce that the Perris wind tunnel is up and operating! Jill Scheidel, manager of the tunnel, made one of the first flights in the tunnel today. Note that it is NOT yet open for business; this was just the first "live" test. There is some work to be done before it can open to the public, including installation of a water line, staff training and some local licensing. But it's getting very close. quade 4 #12 November 24, 2003 Yep -- ity's been sounding like a giant vacuum cleaner for a couple of days now. They're trying to take some of the rattle out of the hum, but it appears the thing switches on and moves enough air to support life.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

mjosparky 4 #15 November 24, 2003 I was able to sneak in the tunnel this afternoon when they fired it up and Melanie Conatser made the first flight. When they brought it up to 80% a guy that was in the tunnel with her graciously stepped out and gave her first flight on her own. Douva 0 #16 November 25, 2003 I'm going to be out there in early January--Does it look like they'll be open for business then? Are they going to be accepting reservations for tunnel time, or will it be first-come-first-serve? --Douva D-22772I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
