gus 1 #1 November 3, 2003 My step-mum just got back from treking in Peru and she told me that, once I've got "this jumping thing" out of my system that I should do it too. That got me thinking, will I ever get it out of my system? I know people that jump sporadically, taking years off before coming back, I know people that have basically given up but I also know people who've been jumping for 20 years and are still loving it. I voted for "It doesn't work like that" because I'm not sure that it's really the right question. GusOutpatientsOnline.com

Snowbird 0 #3 November 3, 2003 You need a category for 'I sure hope not!' Just this morning I was thinking that I hope when I celebrate my 60th birthday (a long time away yet!) I'll still be jumping. wmw999 2,541 #6 November 3, 2003 Actually, I also want to trek in Peru. I just saw a friend's pics of her trip, and they look awesome. Then I'll jump some more. shmali 0 #10 November 4, 2003 How about skydiving INTO Peru and then trecking out. I don't think i'll ever get it 'out' of my system. jumpinfarmer 0 #11 November 4, 2003 It's an adiction plain and simple, you can't get over it.If I don't jump for a couple of weeks I start to get verry testy. After jumping work seems to go better, I find myself looking skyward all week, at planes, clouds, checking wind, and practicing exits from beams in one of my hay barns, it's all I can think about. I don't think it's going to go away any time soon. At least I hope it dosn't!

Taz 0 #13 November 4, 2003 My mom said the same thing after I sent my parents a copy of my tandem video. "I hope you get this out of your system soon!" They have now realized that it ain't gonna happen. There are lots of ways to love skydiving and still do other stuff. Since I started I have changed jobs, continents, and general life plans, but I still jump (albeit without the same altitude and skill level I'd have if I was still living in California)... FYI, last year I climbed Kilimanjaro and the whole time I kept thinking how friendly I already was with clouds at thousands of feet above the ground. Such a good feeling. -TIt's the Year of the Dragon.

desertsky 0 #19 November 4, 2003 So do both. I love to play - I backpack, rock climb, white water raft, skydive - all kinds of stuff. True - you can't do all of them every single weekend. I stay current and jump about every 2 or 3 weeks, and have fun in other activities all the other weekends. So, why not Trek in Peru while taking a short break from jumping, and then get right back in there when you're done with the jungle?*********************************** lookin' for that old time, friendly, club-like dz

AndyMan 7 #21 November 6, 2003 My first reaction was to say "Hell no! We're all here for life!". The reality is that I've been here 4 years, and in that time I've seen a lot of people move on, people who once said "Hell No" themselves. I'm a long way from moving on, but I imagine it'll happen some day. Both my mother and my mother in-law hope it'll happen sooner rather then later. I doubt that. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
