BoostedXT 0 #1 October 7, 2003 Ok I just bought myself a new car...2004 Subaru Forester Turbo...silver loaded. I love the car, but since jumping 2 weeks ago I have though of nothing else but doing it again. I am going to sign up for the AFF course...and I would like to buy all my own gear. Now if I sell my car I could do that no problem cash, and buy another car that is less expensive. Do I: Keep new car with 2108 Miles on it and save and save save until I can AFF and gear together? or Sell new reliable car, buy used, and use cash to buy gear and AFF? Joe PS-why am I even thinking about this? I love cars, and mine.....but errrr.....I want to jump again...soon.For long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. schattenjaeger 0 #2 October 7, 2003 Stick it all on a credit card and don't think about itNot seriously. If you can find a cheaper car that'll run just as well, and it doesn't bother you to do it, go ahead. If it all possible you'll wanna do the AFFs in a short span of time for learning purposes and stuff.
BoostedXT 0 #3 October 7, 2003 I dont think I could find a car as reliable. I drive from New England to the south....florida, georgia every year for work.....and the fact of having a new car to make the trip in makes it easier to take. I want to do the AFF course in as little amount of time to try and retain the knowledge....like college...dont get a associates degree in 8 years sort of thing. Hrmmm... thanksFor long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. mofo554 0 #4 October 7, 2003 You will lose so much money by selling a car you just bought. Simply driving that car off the lot, it probably lost at least $3000 in value. If you're willing to take such a significant financial hit....go for it. If I were in your situation, I'd find another way to finance my way into the sport.... mikemc 0 #7 October 8, 2003 not that its matters now as you are sorted by the sounds of it! But, I am selling my pride and joy, CBR600F sports bike, to fund my new rig and a xmas jumping holiday. Its killing me to do it, but I have promised myself i WILL get another next year.
McG 0 #8 October 8, 2003 Lucky you But as a principal; buy the rig and ride a bus to the dz to jump like a bat out of hell. **>If God meant for man to fly, He´d have given him much more money. McG, DZ EFVA dictator
curtismelaniej 0 #9 October 8, 2003 I sold my first car to buy my first rig-- best thing I ever did-- and acutally even at the time there was no question in my mind. (Ok, fine, I was moving to NYC and didn't need the car.) Anyway, I hear you though, I have a 2002 Subaru Outback and I LOVE it. My Sube is my one other truly frivolous pleasure in life next to skydiving. I could easily be driving around something a lot cheaper and still have a new car. I am on a 4-way team (VERY expensive) and I still manage to make it work. It's up to you, but bottom line, you've got to go through AFF, and you've got to get your own equipment. Hopefully you can do it with your sweet new job and still keep your Sube! Welcome to skydiving!!! __________________________________________________________ http://www.skydiveelsinore.com/teams/EXCEL/basic_camp.html

ber 0 #11 October 11, 2003 An answer from someone who have almost the same question some years ago, Ive sell my subaru cause ive no more money to anything else, subaru costme too much and dont leave any money to other luxury stuff. Now, some years later, i still think i took the right desicion and i will do it again, but i got to tell... the next day i almost cry for selling it and everytime i see a subaru i kick my self, and im pretty sure one day i will buy another. Mine it was not a forester but a Impreza, anyway a subaru its not just a car. My advice is simple, ride it, enjoy it, love it, but sell it before the first $500 maintenance comes.Ber --------------------------------- "Who Needs Oxygen Anyway?"
