jsaxton 0 #51 October 10, 2003 Bill pulls in the middle and lands last. This probably helps improve his odds. More time to deal with a mal. No traffic in the pattern. Not a bad stratagy if you can.
Mad47 0 #52 October 10, 2003 Quotewell here is a comforting thought, If a canopy fails to deploy every 750 jumps (statistically) then a double mal happens every 750 x 750 = 562500 jumps, therefore only one in five of the (statistical jumps ) jumps inwhich you die will be a double mal, Doesnt that make you feel better, Cos the other 4 are all your or someone elses fault, I don't think that the law of the probabilities of two independent events applies to the case of D-mal. Malfunction of reserve can be caused by malfunction of the main, improper excecution of emergency procedure or instability after cutaway. Therefore, the probability of D-mail should be much higher than 750X750.

skypuppy 1 #54 October 11, 2003 I think by the time you're re-doing the jump for the 15,000th time, you'd probably be so bored you wouldn't bother to dump...If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. Bruce McConkey 'I thought we were gonna die, and I couldn't think of anyone
