sizing a javlin

Recommended Posts

I am looking at buying a javelin but am having trouble finding what model would fit me!... I am 5 foot 9 and will be wanting to fit from a 135 to 150 main. Also are the odyssey sizes the same? I have looked on sights like sunpath but maybe im looking in the rong place. Any help would be much appreciated

thanx

The best thing to do is to demo the rig you want to buy from your local dealer. Nothing beats trying it on and jumping it. Your local dealer can also size it for you if you cant demo it. The last thing you can do is to call or e-mail Sunpath. Give them as many of your measurements as possible and they can make a recommendation.

I called Sunpath, gave them my measurements and the recommendation they made was right on the money. I dont know if they are that good or if I just got lucky but it worked for me.

Remember your rig is a big investment so if you can demo before you buy, do it. The Sunpath customer service people have been very helpful when I delt with them

Hope this helps and good luck

I'm 5'9" and I have a 150 hornet, in a J1 Javelin,
the J1 will take a 135 - 150 the onther thing you need to know is the yoke size and main lift web length, for your height and an average build you'll be looking at about a C18 (C is the yoke width, 18" for ligft web)
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)
My Life ROCKS!
How's yours doing?

Go back to the sunpath website, and click on sizing on the left hand side of the main page. It will give you the different models, and what size canopy (main and reserve) will fit into each model. Don't forget to check what size harness you will need. I believe you will need a C-17 harness. Good luck!!

you might find the presence of hip rings adds a 1/2 inch. I can only assume that this is a percieved addition because of the comfort they afford as im sure sun path would have adjusted their sizing to take account of the rings.

edit: also go back to the sunpath website (or www.square1.com - they're the cheepest ive found anyway) They DO have a very comprehensive sizing chart, as do square 1. You will definately find the answer there, and from the horses mouth, so to speak.
