skydiverjon 0 #26 July 22, 2003 Hey, I once screwed up a 5 way when I had about 25 or 30 jumps. lol Ok, I've messed up on others too, not just once. I brainfarted on the next point and etc... Well, On this 5 way, my pre-second time jumping with a group, I was jumping with 4 others who had quite a bit more jumps than me. I got on the ground and started my apoligies to them, and One of the guys looks at me and says, If the others in the group get mad because they feel like you screwed up their jump, then you are jumping with wrong people. There is nothing stopping us from going back up and trying again. I've always remembered that bit of advice and to this day when I jump with someone new and they start apoligizing for that, I quote them the same that was quoted to me. usskydiver 0 #27 July 22, 2003 First jump at Z-Hills in 1988 (114 total jumps) during the Easter Boogie (40 way competition that I wasn't competing in). Long spot + low turn = broken femur. DC holding at altitude while US Special Ops Command UH-1 came in to medevac me to MacDill AFB. Funny part was the guy who ran up with his rig and asked if he could get a fly away jump. I hasten to say that EVERY skydiver has blown a formation (get your mind out the gutter jtval!!)...either with folks they knew - or didn't!! A couple of big ones in my career have been: *blowing a Memorial jump for a friend's father who went in.....yeah - talk about guilt on that one! *showing up at the dz where I picked up my license (out of country), only to flare really bloody high and have the DZO run out to see if I was okay...then considered taking my 'newly acquired' license away from me *crashing through a 4 way base trying to "race" someone to it.....I got above and then lost all my air!! About my only consolation to any of this was showing up to a new dz..as a glorious 70 jump wonder...and being the one person on the skydive NOT to eff up their slot!! Take the good with the bad.....and jump again! And skygods....well - they had to start somewhere - so just remind them next time they pull any shite with you....and then don't jump with them again! I have been at a dropzone recently where people wandered into the path of incoming aircraft while they are taxiing up the runway. It's not a pretty sight and without knowing you I can still say I would never wish it upon you. I honestly think it was just for your safety and of those around you. 2. While Grumpy was probably a little out of line (or just naturally Grumpy), I think you might be projecting a bit too much onto Huey Luey Duey and the girl. One, because I'm on a 4 way team with some of those guys and know their personalities pretty well. Second, you may have had a great chance to get their perspective at the chimney and had a few beers with them 3. Actually all the people on this load are great people and I hope I didn't make them seem otherwise. Even Grumpy.
